My eyes begin to flicker, sunlight streaming directly on my face. It takes me a moment to gather my senses.
The last thing I remember is Queen Ravenna leaving me by myself in her room.
It finally hits me, I'm laying in Ravenna's bed, though she is nowhere to be seen. Feeling like I'm being suffocated around her presence, even if it's a simple duvet, I scramble out nearly falling face first.
I sigh rubbing my eyes harshly, this nightmare is becoming more and more peculiar. I tiptoe to the door, my feet making it seem like I'm cracking on ice.
Putting my ear against it, I hear nothing. I get on my knees and see a pair of feet guarding it. I can tell it's a guard by the stance. My only way of escape, is that god forsaken door.
With a rash decision, I grab the heaviest object I could find, a large steel candle holder. My fingers lightly turn the handle. With the door only open a smidge, I get my stance ready.
I take a heavy breath, bouncing on my toes lightly to release the adrenaline seeping out of my skin.
"Pssss" I whisper.
The guard turns around fully. Without a second to loose, I slam the door open. As quickly as I do that, my two hands with all its might smash the steel against his head. He collapses instantly.
I pull the guard by his hands into the Queens chambers. I scramble to get the uniform off him and onto my body.
After a minute or so, I begin getting changed. The dark metal fitting me like a glove. I shake the helmet off him. I stop in my tracks, he doesn't seem to be much older than me. I wonder how he ended up here.
That's when I snap myself back to reality, I need to get a move on. Putting the helmet on I grab the large sword, putting it in a holster around my waist. My hand turns the knob and I step my foot out. No one is there yet.
I move my hand to my waist as I feel something dangling. It's a set of keys. What a miracle. I'm praying it opens the door where Edith is, well that's even if she's still alive.
I walk down the hall, acting as much as one of her dark knights as possible. One soldier turns the corner, he has his helmet off. It's like he was trying to slack off because he immediately put it back on after seeing me.
"Where are you supposed to be?" He asks fixing his waistband.
"Our Majesty needs another girl." I say as confidently as I possibly can. My voice low to stay undetected.
He simply hums and walks past me. I swiftly turn the corner. How on earth do I find my way around here.
The guard who just passed me, yells loudly. He must have found the man I left. With no time, I try find any door. With another turn I see a staircase of narrow steps. I run up them, the metal clanging loudly.
That's when I see it, the door to the room Edith and I were kept in. I juggle the keys and try pick any one. Edith is on her bed, but as soon as she sees me she scrambles away to the floor.
"NO!!!! Please NO!!" She screams.
I finally get the right key.
"Shut up! It's me!!!" I whisper.
Edith wipes her tears confused. I lift my helmet slightly. Her furrowed brows change to a hopeful smile.
"You came back for me?" She whimpers as she runs to my arms.
"Yeah, I did." I smile holding her warmly.
Remembering how little time we have left, I grab her by the forearms. "You need to follow me. Be as quiet as you can." She nods intently. I scope the room and grab a chain by the floor.
