Emmy and Steve stood in the corner as the girl greeted everyone, the girl walked up to Emmy and Steve, she smiled and reached her hand out
"I'm Eleven, you are Mike's sister, Amelia. I saw you last year" El said, Emmy took her hand and shook it
"I'm sorry?" Emmy said, she was confused
"When I was with Mike, I saw you in your room, talking about a Steve" El said, Emmy and Steve's eyes widened, she was embarrassed and he was wearing a shit-eating grin
"Really!" Steve said in an annoying tone that made Emmy want to bang her head against a wall, "What was she saying?"
"We don't need to know that, thanks El, it was nice to meet you" Emmy said, quickly changing the subject which Steve obviously noticed
El smiled at the girl and walked away, "That was El, I met her last year" Nancy said, making Emmy clench her jaw
"Thanks Nance I kind of got that" Emmy said as she looked down
"Alright, listen up!" Hopper said as he walked out of a room with Mike behind him, "Me and Joyce talked, we're gonna burn it out of Will. She's gonna go with Nancy and Jonathan, Me and El are gonna go close the gate."
"Whoa whoa what about us!" Steve yelled, pointing to him and Emmy
"You're gonna stay here with the kids" Hopper said making Emmy and Steve groan
"Come on, man" Emmy groaned as she paced around the room
"Not your choice. We're leaving" Hopper said, everyone left, leaving Emmy and Steve to babysit, again.
Steve picked up the gross demo-dog and put it in the fridge with Dustin while Max and Emmy sat together
"What happened with you and El, you friends?" Emmy said as she fiddled with her hands
"Don't think so, she glared at me and ignored me when I tried meeting her" Max said, Emmy paused and looked at her
"She did what? Why?"
Max shrugged in response, Emmy felt protective of Max, she was like the little sister she never had, so she didn't like what El did.
"You know what? You don't need her, besides, you got me" Emmy smiled at girl
"That's enough for me" Max smiled back at the girl, the two stopped smiling when they heard bickering, they got up and saw the kids bickering with Steve
"What's going on?" Emmy asked
"These little shits want to leave and go to some hole thing connected to the Upside Down"
"Oh hell no, that's dangerous we can't risk it"
"Exactly!" Steve said, agreeing with Emmy
"But—" Before Mike could say anything else, they all heard an engine revving
"Oh shit! That's Billy! He's gonna kill me if he finds out I'm here!" Max said as she looked out the window
"We'll deal with this" Emmy said, before she could walk out the door, Steve grabbed her
"I'm gonna deal with this—"
"But Steve—"
"No." Steve said, looking at the girl for a moment before walking out the door, Emmy had no choice but to watch through the window
She couldn't quite hear what they were saying, but she hoped it was okay, Billy was sweet to her and understood her, she had planned to talk to him after all this was over, but she wasn't so sure now
