"Morning.", I mumbled still tired.
"Morning", he whispered half asleep.
"I should go back.....there's a little fest tomorrow......want to come with me?"
"I'd love to but how? Look at me.", he stretched and pointed down on him.
"I go home and get you some other clothes, I'll be back later and stay the night again. What if you ty to change even more?"
"Worth a try.", he smiled.
So I made my way back home, trying to avoid my friends and lie to them, but again they caught me.
"Hey boy, where have you been?", John yelled with a smile.
"Away.", I laughed too.
"Jane gave me hints that there may be someone you meet?"
"Funny, no I don't at least not what you think, during my training I met a homeless guy from another village, I helped him get back on his feet. If that answers your questions."
"Huh, didn't expect that. What are you doing now?"
"Prepare for the fest tomorrow, I may bring him too, help him find a new place.", I walked back to my house.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? What if he attacks?"
"He's peaceful, and yes I trust him. I will take care of him."
"Hopefully.", he walked away.
I packed some shirts and pants for him, a hat in case he can't hide his ears and a coat for covering his tail. After a few minutes I got everything and made my way back to the cave.
"You need a lift?", he looked down the mountain with a smile.
"What do you mean?", the next second he landed in front of me.
"You got everything? Then hold tight.", he lifted me a bit opening his wings.
"Wait my horse! I can't and won't leave her here."
"Hm....okay.", he released his full dragon and picked up my horse and me under each arm, flying up to his cave.
"There you go.", he transformed back.
"Thanks, this saves time."
"No problem."
"Seeing you transform, have you managed to look more human?"
"Didn't try it, sorry."
"It's okay, if it won't work, here's a coat, a hat and some large shirts."
"Thanks, but I'll try."
"Hungry?"
"Starving."
We prepared some chicken and bread, but then a sudden thought hit me.
"Can I ask you something?"
"What is it?", he cut the chicken in half.
"What About your weekly attacks?"
"What do you mean?", he stopped, not turning around.
"Well you attacked every week since I can think, and now it would be time to attack again, but as I bring you food now it's useless, but the people will wonder why you stopped, and they ask where I am in the last days, so..."
"So, you're saying I should attack them just for cover?", he raised his head.
"No, I mean maybe, not hurt them of course. But show up maybe."
"So you want me to terrorize innocent people?", he rammed his claws into the meat.
"You did that before."
"Because I had a reason! Now I don't."
"They're my friends and family of course you shouldn't hurt them."
"What if the ancient dragon died and that's because he doesn't show up anymore?"
"Then stay in here for the rest of your life....I can't promise you to bring you food all the time."
"So, it all was a lie?", he turned around, ripping the chicken apart.
"Okay....."
"You come here, I trust you and now you want me to play the monster? Do you need a reason to kill me in the the end?! Was it all a trick?!"
"I...."
"I never wanted to be this thing here! Do you think I wanted to end up alone in a goddamn cave?! For hundreds of years?! Being feared and hated because I had to attack innocent people?!", he hissed showing his fangs and glowing eyes.
"That's not what I said.."
"Leave."
"What?"
"Leave, I don't want to see you."
"No."
"Good, then I'll leave, and if I come back I can't promise you to spare your life.", he flew away.
Of course I stayed, I thought about something to calm him again, and to explain everything.
