The rain hadn't stopped pattering against the roofs, and the windows showed a fog that turned denser with each passing minute. It was one of those days where everyone simultaneously felt sleepy. Even the teacher yawned and slurred her words.

Adrien tapped at the wood.

Today, with a tired voice, she introduced a new novel they would read, Les Liaisons Dangereuses. It was something of a moral tale from what he could gather, a pretty risque one as they would need permission from their parents to participate in the reading.

After a short introduction of its cultural impact, the historical value, along with the author's own past, Miss Bustier clapped her hands. "Everyone, wake up! It's time to pair up and read!"

Immediately the class started shuffling to their friends, high-fiving, hugging and sitting down as they talked about everything but the book. No one was interested in doing work.

He didn't think much of it till he felt the awkward gaze of Y/n behind his back, as she shuffled uncomfortably.

Marinette had left her for Alya, never acknowledging her as she moved past the girl. She even sneered when she made the little eye contact they had. She went to the back of the room, settling her stuff down. She didn't even try to hide her distaste.

He frowned.

It shouldn't have bothered him as much as it did, Marinette being a kind girl and all, she had every reason to feel what she did. But wasn't he also allowed to feel a sense of pity for the girl; knowing her situation?

He raised his hand. "Miss Bustier? Is it alright if we form a third person group with Y/n?"

The teacher's rosy lips curled gently, nodding. "But of course Adrien! Just remember to divide the work accordingly." He took a quick glance at Y/n, her eyes wide and mouth agape. He wasn't sure, but he thought he saw a crinkle of a smirk forming. He winked.

Though his decision to include her was without protest, as Nino nudged at his shoulder; He leaned forward, whispering. "Dude I know you're like- super nice and stuff...but like- what are you doing?" Adrien flashed him a stare.

"Remember my first day here." He inclined. "It took you three days to finally talk to me, because you thought I was like Chloe."

"Ok but thats different-"

Adrien pestered a hand. "How? Besides, she's not that bad, she has-"

He stopped himself.

It was a secret she told and trusted him with. People didn't often tell him much, but she did, and he would take that trust and place it at a pedicle.

"She has...changed." He said slowly. "She regrets what she's done."

"Psh I hope so, chicks had like three years to think about what she did." Nino suddenly peeked an eye towards Alya and Marinette. "And I don't think Marinette or Alya will appreciate it."

Adrien turned to see the two girls. Alya looked baffled, shaking her head as she gestured to Y/n getting up and walking towards him. Marinette on the other hand looked damn close to crying, as if someone spat at her food. 'Dammit' he thought to himself. Maybe if he could convince Nino, he would tell Alya the kind of person Y/n was. And through those events Alya tell Marinette. Maybe then she wouldn't be so scared to talk to her.

Nino breathed in at the concentrated look on Adrien's face. "If you say she's cool I believe you. Just don't think those two will," He shrugged.

"I'll tell them."
