"Welcome everyone to the Jubilife City Pokémon Contest!" The host said. May and Drew were waiting backstage for their turns to come up along with Solidad, Brianna, and Harley. The announcer continued on before starting the Performance Round. "The winner of the Jubilife City Pokémon Contest will receive this ribbon!" She held up the ribbon to be awarded to the winner before putting it away. Then the screen showed the coordinators in the order they will be performing. First was May, then Drew, followed up by Brianna, Harley, and Solidad. 3 random people followed them. May got up for her turn. "Beautifly, take the stage!" She ordered when she got up to the arena. She was wearing the same dress she had worn during the Wallace cup and was using a Ball Capsule that emitted hearts. "Beautiflyyy!" Beautifly cried as it emerged out of the ball. "Beautifly, Silver Wind!" May commanded. Beautifly obeyed. "Now use Psychic to control it!" "Beau!" Beautifly had now taken control over its own attack. It used that to its advantage, and formed a giant outline of a Silver Heart on stage. "Wow, that's amazing!" Drew exclaimed from his seat. Everyone was thinking the same thing, even May's family. "Fly to its center! Use Morning Sun!" Beautifly then flew into the center of the heart and started to glow white. It was an absolutely stunning sight to see. "Now Aerial Ace!" "Beau-Ti-Flyyy!" Beautifly's Aerial Ace had shattered the glowing heart, causing many white sparkles to forme and float in the air. Everyone was dazzled, and Beautifly ended it with a pose on May's head, then she proceeded to bow. "An amazing performance by May! That was quite a sight to see! Let's now see what the judges thought of that!" Everyone turned to the judges. 9.7, 9.3, 9.9, adding up to an amazing 28.9. "This contest has gotten off to an amazing start! Next up, it's Drew from LaRousse City!" May had gone off the stage and met Drew in his way out there as well. "Good luck, Drew!" May said to her rival. "You too, May." He responded. Now it was Drew's turn to shine. "Go, Masquerain!" He commanded. The Ball Capsule he used emitted bubbles. May didn't know that he changed his mind. 'So, he's using Masquerain instead?' She thought to herself. Drew had scored an amazing 29.1 with a Hidden Power, Bubble, and Ice Beam performance. Brianna made a 26.8. Harley used his Cacturne and its Needle Arm and Spore combination to get past with a 29.6, and Solidad made a 27.4 with her Slowbro. Those 2 random coordinators were disqualified from the Battle Round, along with Brianna, who was devastated. She didn't even bother to watch the rest of the contest. Now the Battle Round pairings were up, May being against Solidad and Drew against Harley. May's battle was up first. "Blaziken, take the stage!" "Banette, you're up!" May and Harley called out their Pokémon at the same time. It was Harley now that made the first move. "Banette, shock her with a Thunder!" "Dodge and use Fire Spin, Blaziken!" Blaziken had successfully dodged the Thunder and landed its Fire Spin. "Baaaaayyyy!" Banette shrieked as the Fire Spin made its mark. "Are you alright?!" Harley called out to his Pokémon. Banette was fine. "Screech, Banette!" "Quick, Overheat!" Blaziken's time was perfect, overpowering the Screech and hitting Banette directly. The timer reached 0 before another move could be made. Everyone looked at the scores, and May had won. "The winner for the first round is May!" The host cheered. 'Wow, she's gotten very good.' Harley thought to himself, stunned. After a short little celebration, May returned backstage, Harley left the arena to join the crowd watching. Now Drew and Solidad were up. "Flygon, let's go!" "Go, Pidgeot!" The 2 called out. "Flamethrower, Flygon!" "FeatherDance, Pidgeot!" 'The flaming feather trick.' May thought to herself, remembering her battles with Solidad from before. She was right, and Pidgeot's FeatherDance was lit with Flygon's Flamethrower. "Aerial Ace, Pidgeot!" "Sandstorm, Flygon! Knock those Feathers right back!" It worked. The feathers from that FeatherDance were knocked right back at the user before Pidgeot could trigger that Aerial Ace. "Quick, Dragon Breath!" "Pull yourself together Pidgeot!" Too late for Pidgeot. The Dragon Breath hit, and Pidgeot was down for the count. "The winner of this round is Drew! Now, join us tomorrow when the finals take place! A battle you want to see! A battle between May and Drew!" The host exclaimed. Everyone then left the arena, and the time was 3 pm. The sun was nearing the horizon line. The 7 friends met up just outside the door. "That was amazing, May!" Max exclaimed upon seeing May and Drew. "You were awesome too, Drew!" He added. "We're both proud, May." Caroline said to them. "We're all proud! That was some amazing battling!" Khoury chimed in. "Thanks! All of you! Now I just know I'm going to win in tomorrow's finals!" May and Drew said in unison, and then looked at each other. "Starting tomorrow, it looks like we'll be rivals." May said to her friend. "Yup. Good luck, May." "You too, Drew." Another hand shake. 'What good sportsmanship, how romantic.' Caroline thought to herself with a smile on her face. "We should go to the Pokémon Center now, I bet all your Pokémon are exhausted!" Lyra added in, and they then started towards the Pokémon Center.

"This is the final round of the Jubilife City Pokémon Contest!" The host brought up. May and Drew were on the stage, ready as ever. "Begin!" "Blaziken, take the stage!" "Flygon, you're up!" The tension of the battle was beginning to rise. "May's at a disadvantage with that Blakizen of hers." Max stated from the crowd. Harley and Solidad had joined them after loosing to those 2 the previous day. "Blaze Kick!" "Steel Wing!" The 2 attacks collided with almost an equal amount of power, however, after a few moments Blaze Kick broke through, sending Flygon to the ground. "Flygon, you alright?!" "Flygon!!" It cried, alerting it's trainer that it was alright. "Dragon Breath!" "Fire Spin!" The attacks collided once again, this time the force was equal, sending out an explosion of black smoke. Everyone shielded their eyes. "Overheat!" May was trying to use the smoke to her advantage. Flygon couldn't see where it was coming from, and was hit. "Flyyy!" "You ok Flygon?!" The Pokémon then got up, but with a little trouble. "Sandstorm!" "Dodge and use Sky Uppercut!" Blaziken leaped into the Sandstorm unharmed somehow. It was shielded by its Sky Uppercut, and hit Flygon directly. Flygon lost its balance and fell to the ground hard, Blaziken landing not far away. Both were exhausted, but Flygon was first to fall. "An amazing victory, May has won!" 'I won?' "I won! Blaziken, we won!" May joyfully yelled to her Pokémon. Drew was shocked. "Amazing..." He murmured to himself. They then both walked backstage.
"Congrats on the victory, Maple." Drew congratulated his friend. "It wasn't easy, you put up an amazing fight." May responded. She then noticed that Drew had brought out another Rose. "Think of it as a little prize for winning." He said with a smile. She gladly took it. "Looks like Beautifly has its 11th Rose now..." May said to herself, but this caused Drew to advert his eyes. 'This is it. The perfect moment.' He thought before speaking up. Or at least that what Drew thinks. What both May and Drew didn't notice was that Solidad, Harley, Caroline, Norman, Max, Lyra, and Khoury had walked around the corner into the small room. But Khoury, immediately upon seeing the red rose, stopped and quieted everyone, praying that May or Drew didn't notice them. Harley then realized what was going on and secretly recorded the couple's conversation. "May, can, can I tell you something?" Drew started in a quiet voice. "Anything you want, Drew." May responded. "Well, it's about those roses, they actually, aren't for Beautifly... They're for... You." May looked a little stunned. "Does that mean... What I think it means?" She asked. Drew had a small blush. "Yes, it does, every last rose has secretly been for you. I've liked you for a long time, May, but I just didn't know how to say it until now. So I just hid my feelings away, because I just didn't know what else to do..." "Drew, it's alright. I guess I kind of did the same thing. I've liked you for a while as well, ever since I traveled with Ash, Brock, and Max." May had cut Drew off. Now she had a small blush as well. Drew then sat down on the beach beside her, slowly getting closer. May then suddenly turned her head to Drew, and then lips met lips. Both were shocked for a second, but neither pulled away. Lyra in the background quickly snapped a picture on her phone. 'This one's a keeper for sure!' Lyra thought excitedly as she looked at the picture. Everyone was shocked, maybe except for Lyra of course. After a few seconds May backed up. Both just started at each other, unable to speak for a long time, with a strong blush on both. Then Harley snuck up on them and broke the long silence. "I've always waited for this moment to happen!" "Harley?!!" May and Drew both turned, scared to death. Solidad, Caroline, Max, Khoury, and Lyra weren't far behind him. "H-hi e-everyone..." May said softly, looking extremely embarrassed. Drew had a similar face. "Congrats on those 2 victories, May. You won a contest and a boyfriend." Caroline teased, making everyone laugh. Except for May and Drew, which was more like nervous laughter. "I still can't believe Harley was right for all these years about you 2." Solidad added. May, most likely out of embarrassment, glanced at her watch. 'It's already 2 pm.' She thought. They soon had left the arena. Solidad and Harley had split up with them soon after, and May's family soon after that. "I can't wait to see you and Drew again soon, sis!" Max called out as they returned to Petalburg City. Now it was 5 pm, and Drew, along with May, were standing along a fenced cliff overlooking the setting sun. "This setting reminds me of when I decided to go to Johto." Drew said. "And to be honest, I really missed you for a while." "Yea, I really missed you too." May added after Drew finished his thought. "Is it true, May? Do you really like me back?" Drew asked his friend. May nodded before replying. "Yes, it's true." Drew didn't realize it, but he was inching closer to May. "I've liked you for a long time, Drew. And apparently, so have you." They then find themselves in the same situation they were in just before. Lips met lips once again, but they were alone, with no interruptions. Lyra and Khoury had walked up to come get them, but they decided not to interfere. Lyra snapped another picture. 'This one's even better than the first one!' She exclaimed silently. This time, neither pulled away. Neither of them actually wanted to. It was almost a full 15 seconds before Drew finally backed away. Both were smiling. Both were happy as can be. "I love you, May." "I, I love you too, Drew."
We leave our heroes when the sun met the horizon, the lips of one met another, and 2 lucky coordinators finally had gotten together. Drew had finally, and so had May, admitted their true feelings, the ones they had concealed, for so long. The accusations may sometimes have been excessive, but surely, they were right, they have been all along.
