ex; Zombie Apocalypse, Nuclear Apocalypse, End of the World

The world ending was a shocking yet expected thing for Tommy.
For one, climate change was a given in one day taking back the earth, and for two? The government silenced anyone who so much as whispered of experimentations going on in government facilities. Something Tommy wasn't surprised about, like have you taken a look at how America was faring?
Hint, America was the first to fall completely despite their guns and laws and 'trust' in the government.
Tommy huffed as he climbed further up the building, looking in windows that only showed rooms covered, soaked, in blood from the blood baths of people who lost their fucking minds. He'd be in the forests that covered the earth, but he had no energy to check where he was stepping for the 80th time. The last time he stepped in a trap was not fun.
Tommy's left leg stung at the mental reminder and he almost lost his grip on the window sill and fire escape he was climbing.
"Don't fucking think of forests dumbass." Tommy muttered as he hauled himself up the last bit of the fire escape. He huffed as he looked into another window and saw someone sleeping in a bed, there were still people in this town?
Tommy wanted to wake them up, but he really didn't want to interact with people yet. Maybe he'd go to another apartment building.
A glance down the way he came and he groaned softly. He really didn't want to climb all the way back down, but the fire escape also wasn't an option if he wanted to not die from some type of infection.
"Hello." A voice greeted him and Tommy screeched and spun around to see the man that had been sleeping with the window open and leaning out. His brown hair was slightly shaggy and had some curls to it, and his brown eyes reminded Tommy of chocolate or the wood from a warm fire that was meant to calm and protect others. The yellow sweatshirt reminded him of the sun that used to be so gently on Tommy, and now felt harsh and full of hate.
It reminded Tommy of before everything went to shit.
"H-Hi. Hello. Who are you?" Tommy asked, hoping like hell his voice didn't crack like it sounded like. He wanted to sound big, and strong like he knew he was.
To be honest, he just wanted to go back to The Before, to when he could garden and farm to his heart's content, but no. The governments had to fuck it all up, and now Tommy had to fight to survive and he really could care less about that.
"I should be asking you that, you were lurking outside my window. Were you going to kill me?" The man responded, and Tommy scoffed in annoyance. Why would he want to do that?
"What the fuck? No!" Tommy responded, "And I was not 'lurking' I just climbed up here." Tommy responded, his voice a hiss as he glared at the man. The man wasn't bothered by it, clearly, as he sat on the sill and tilted his head at Tommy.
"Then why are you up here on this fire escape?" He asked and Tommy groaned, leaning back against the fire escape railings as he huffed in annoyance.
"Because," Tommy started, annoyance in his voice as he rolled his eyes once more. "I need a place to sleep and climbed up all the way up here and checked every window I could. Nothing was good, and finally a clean room and someone has it. Was just thinking of climbing back down." Tommy continued.
The man tilted his head at him, reminding Tommy more of a confused kitten then a man analysing a possible threat like he was. Tommy's leg burned once more, and Tommy tried to discreetly put more pressure on his right leg instead. The man clearly saw it and raised an eyebrow at him.
