That night Daniel didn't come home until late in the night. Irene sat inn the small living room, scrolling through her phone. She apologized to Jules over text for not coming back. Jules and her hung out for an hour after school and Irene explained everything. Her and Jules were still close friends and promised to stay that way.

"When do you think he'll come home, mom?" Irene asked. Her mom was still very upset about what happened, and had every right to be.

"I don't know." She mumbled. She kept looking over at the door at every small sound. Irene knew she wanted to see Daniel as much as she did. Even though she was mad at him se still wanted to see him. It was quiet and lonely.

Irene started to get up when the clock turned 8. She always went on a couple mile run at this time. She started to change into leggings and a tanktop and put on her hole filled running shoes when the door clicked open.

Daniel looked like he was trying to sneak in, but that didn't work out so well in his favor.

"Daniel, we need to talk." Her mother said. Daniel froze with Irene. The way she sat and the way her voice dropped was unfamiliar to them.

Irene was about to walk out, but her mom called her back and told the two to sit. Irene sat on the wall opposite from Daniel. They both kept glancing up at each other and holding eye contact for a moment before looking away. The tension in the room was thick and hung in the air.

"Daniel, Irene. Go transfer." Their mom said out of nowhere. Irene and Daniel paused and looked up. Before it was an option, but now they really were going to switch schools. They were going to get away from this shitty town and these shitty people.

"I haven't taken good care of both of you. I cant come with you because of work, but you two have each other, so you'll be okay." She said seriously. Irene and Daniel looked up at each other in that moment in shock.

"Studying is more important than friends after all, right?"

She knew. She knew what was going on with Daniel. The way she said friends had its own note.

'i'll take care of all your expenses. Trust me and go." She smiled.

The way she smiled. It was all too clear she simply wanted the best for her children. She wanted to see them happy and to see them do good in their lives. She wanted them to grow up ad be better than she was.

Everything was conflicting for both Irene and Daniel. No Logan and the bullies, but we have no money. What about expenses? What about mom being lonely, but they could escape form this hell. They could be gone and start a new life at a new school.

Daniel got down on his hands and knees. Tears fell down to the nasty, cheap carpet. Irene hugged her mom and cried into her shoulder. Both of them knew they were going, but they still felt bad. They couldn't believe their mom. She sacrificed so much for them to be able to be happy.
