"Thank you for today. thank you for listening to me ramble." Irene said through her soft smile. she walked before Gun as they were walking from his car. She bent down next to the neighbor's dog, stroking the soft mix of fur on the top of its small head. the dog wagged its tail, receiving the only attention given during the day. it shyly smelled her shoes and melted in her touch, the neck of the dog was wrapped around with a thick rope. Irene smiled sadly at the dog before stepping up the triple steps to her house.

"You know I don't see it that way," he said closely behind her. his hand was placed gently on the dip in her back, stabilizing her as she tiredly walked up the cement stairs. She was so physically tired, but her mind and emotions were buzzing with flustered thoughts.

They reached her front door, but the street light with prancing moths and flies was now flickering. "Spooky. Someone going to jump us now that it's flickering. we just need to wait for the rain and lightning." Irene smiled, turning once she reached her door.

"Right... is this your plan to jump me, but reveal it as a joke?" He asked through his smirk.

"Oh, you caught me. at least now we have a perfect spot to bury you." She said, throwing back to their picnic spot.

"At least I had some good memories there." he flirted, stepping forward, pulling at her coat. Irene stared up at him through the fur around the hood of her black jacket, allowing him to lead her toward his body. he grinned down at the beaming girl, who was stepped up on her tippy toes. through her smile, he snaked his hand to her cheek and pressed his lips to hers. she smiled through their last kiss of the night. he was so smooth with everything it helped her feel natural and not so awkward or tense.

"Good night." She said lowly as she pulled away from his hold. he let her slip through his fingers, her eyes trailing back to him before twisting around with her key in her hand. She unlocked the door, turning around in the door frame to see him waiting to make sure she got inside her house safely. He gave her a tight line of a smile, to which she reciprocated. She slowly shut the door with a click.

The butterflies and the high emotions melted away. her body was comfortable as she was sighing. she slipped off her coat, thankful for her night. She sighed to herself as she slipped off her shoes too. She saw the clock read 3:20 am. She dragged her nails through her long hair, pulling and tugging at tangles. she was slightly regretting the date for the lack of sleep she was going to get tonight.
