"How did you know?" Irene asked, giving a small scoff. She was surprised when he placed his warm, rough, hand over hers. She watched him place his hand under hers with their palms pressed to one another. He began to gently graze his thumb over the back of her hand.

"You're cold, so you were waiting outside. You're wearing leggings and a coat that don't match, and knowing you, your style is specific. If you were home, you would wear a more... casual outfit." He said, staring out at the window shield. Irene's silence was pretty much an answer. "So, where at? And why lie?"

"A convenience store. I just didn't want to hear that I shouldn't be working or anything. It sounds weird to me saying it, but you treat me like I'm better than the people around me. I like that you care for me, but I have to work." She said, her frigid palm began to give off a cold sweat and he noticed the change immediately.

"You're right. I don't want you working and I'd rather not see you working in the middle of the night in later hours with the area you live in. I would be less against it if I knew you were working day shifts. if you needed money I could always just send you some, but I also know how independent and stubborn you are." He said, sighing, as he rested his elbow on the side of the door. Irene noticed the women and men staring at the lavish car stopped at the light, pointing and jaws dropping.

"I don't want to be a charity case to you, Gun. I need to be independent and take care of myself and my mom. I earn money I work for that I can call my own, and I don't want to be reliant on someone else's work and become a burden to them." She said. He knew this was a fight he wasn't going to win. He sounded controlling, but Irene knew he did it because he worried about her. He offered and cared for her like no one else.

"You're not a charity case, Irene. If you're going to keep working, when you're with me you can't pay for anything when we go out. That's the reality of it, and I'm not going to fight you on it." He stated and started the car. He tore his hand from hers and shifted into gear.

Irene was silent as she chewed the inside of her cheek. She respected him so much. He felt heated in the cheeks as she remembered all hers done, and to her. The last time they were together, they were in the car together. The last time they were together they were intimate.

"Do you think we can go pick up some food and eat somewhere else?" Irene blurted out. She didn't want to give him any ideas, but the last thing she wanted to do was be out in public. being with Gun felt more intimate and she wanted to be somewhere peaceful with him. they went to lavish restaurants often, so a change of scenery was something she liked... plus, if Gun made that new rule she wanted to do something cheaper.
