Me and Annabeth separated but stayed by each other's side. my hair was still wet, and I could feel the strength from the water radiating through my now adrenaline filled body. I was ready to fight to save my family from these warriors. as always, I thought with a heavy sigh. I pulled riptide from my pocket and uncapped it, allowing riptide to grow full size. Then I charged at them, trying my best to shadow the merciless looks on their face.

Most of the campers have come out of their fear induced trances and stared fighting by my side, stabbing Empusa, parrying the razor-sharp beaks of   Stymphalian birds. There were so many monsters some of which I couldn't even name. The numbers were nowhere near in our odds, the unfairness of all this filled my stomach and throat with anger. The anger was good though, I could feel it strengthening me. I willed the entire river lift into the air like I had made it do when me and Thalia fought after that game of capture the flag we played so long ago. The water swirled above my head, following my every need.

their first advance was small, filled with minor monsters most of us has fought before. they were killed fairly quickly, the river water swirling as fast as I could make it, sucking and tearing up everything in my path. The second advance was slightly larger. I knew they were only sending these to tire us so when the last, biggest advance came we would be too worn and tired. Then I thought of something stupid and very, very dangerous.

I ran at full speed into the woods, around the mass of the army. everyone was just trying to keep the monsters from getting too far into camp, but as I emerged from the trees I was determined to slip into the middle of the army. I wanted to fight the big ones first, and I was going to do it alone. no one else needed to get hurt because of my reckless idea.

ANNABETH'S POV:

Percy likes to think he's sneaky. Sometimes he can be, but never with me. i looked away from the minor monster i was fighting just in time to see Percy slip into the woods. Almost instantly I realized what he had, and the first thought in my head was to go to the center, and I knew that was what he was going to do. But I was still in the middle of a fight, and i had to kill this monster before I went after Percy.
