PERCY'S POV:
There was an entire freaking army just sitting at the threshold of the border chattering amongst themselves. they were just sitting there, but I could tell they were only taunting us, I could almost feel the blood thirst radiating of the mass.
The other campers could feel it too. the camp reminded me of a riot. some of them, the rational ones, were trying to calm the younger, more skittish campers. telling them that the monsters couldn't get past the border. the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I knew that they had spoken too soon.
I turned just in time for the whole army to strike at the border at the same time. I knew that no matter how powerful the border may be the chances of it outlasting that army were very low, too low. I ran at top speed trying to find Annabeth. there were three more bone shattering blasts before I finally found her standing at Thalia's tree next to Chiron. "Annie?" I shouted when I saw her. She turned, and the fear on her face dam near broke my heart. (SEE WHAT I DID THERE lol)
I ran up and entrapped her in a tight hug, holding her to me hoping I could just go to another reality where me and Annabeth could actually catch a break.
it was at that moment that the next, and last, blast came. the border shattered into a million pieces. my back sprayed with pieces of the border. I squeezed Annabeth even tighter, protecting her from the shards. my ears filled with the screams of both fear and anger.
then the monsters stormed my home with a wrath that probably would have terrified the Olympians.

(Sorry this chapter was a little shorter than I had wanted it to be. but I'm watching the new season of umbrella academy rn and am a little preoccupied with it. the next one will hopefully be longer. fingers crossed🤞)
