Chapter 8: First Gift

Also, are you liking this version of Veer? I wanted to make it so that he is the one who starts to realize his feelings for Bani before her. But he's conflicted because he's hurt her so much (to no fault of his own) and his brother also has/had feelings for her. Poor Veer :(

Is anyone looking forward to Surbhi's new show? I will try to watch just for her but know I most likely won't be able to sit through more than one episode because not looking forward to the pairing. I thought I had manifested her working with Arjit :(

Bani couldn't believe her eyes. It had been almost a year since she saw this person, yet here he was in the flesh and that too standing across from her fiance. She saw his smirk, his towering presence, and the same look in his eyes that he always had when they were dating. Evil. Pure evil. For an entire three months they dated. In the beginning it was great. He would call in to check up on her, helped her out with her business projects, and remembered little things she told him. About two months into the relationship he started acting odd and at this point Bani had to put her foot down and give him an ultimatum. He started off with planting the seed of how broke he is. His dad doesn't give him money, his cousins are out to get him to make sure he's not successful, he doesn't have a penny to his name because people keep ruining his investments. At first Bani believed it and would let him borrow some money here and there. Eventually it became a daily occurrence. Soon enough he stopped taking her calls when she asked him when he's going to pay her back. Finally after three months she sent him a text that it's over and to never show his face to her again. This was when he pretended that he was in a bad car accidence and was in the hospital for recovery. She believe him and agreed to meet him. For a week he acted normal. One night changed it all. He talked her into going to his friends club with him and throughout the ride kept telling her how badly his friend wants to meet her. When they got there she could sense right away something was off and she asked if she could just say hi to his friends and leave. Daksh let her know that they're up in the VIP lounge and they can leave right after that. When they got up there the conversation kept steering into the direction of a topic which made Bani really uncomfortable. Several of the girls there talked about how much money they get for what they do and how it's technically considered a sophisticated profession in this day and age. One girl told Bani that she can just take pictures, she doesn't have to do anything with the clients. Bani looked over at Daksh indicating that she's disgusted and begged with her eyes to get her out of there but right then she realized. He was sitting there looking around with a wide smile and laughing. He had never changed after all. Finally she saw him for what he truly was. Daksh's friend then sat next to Bani with a drink in his hand and offered him a position in his company. He promised her that with a face like hers she could make millions and even had drawn up a contract. Bani couldn't believe her eyes. When she looked at the contract sitting on the table she noticed something. Under the title "manager" was Daksh Singhania's name and a clause stating he would get 25% of her earnings. Right then Bani stood up, slapped Daksh across the face and ran out of there as fast as she could. She forgot her wallet and keys upstairs and had to walk back home at 11 pm at night. Since then the last name Singhania always made her shudder. She never got the money back which Daksh owed her and for several months he harassed her through calls, texts, and emails. He would stop at nothing to get payback for how she embarrassed him that night.

She turned to leave because she couldn't bare even looking at him, however she stopped. She wanted to know why he was here and what his relationship with Veer was. Bani strained her head to listen but could only make out bits and pieces of what they were saying. Veer's voice dipped between high and low tones and Daksh kept it cool throughout. Thanks for inviting me Veer. Bani heard Daksh say. She looked up in shock. So Veer invited him? Did he know her relationship with Daksh? Bani held on to her heart in fear of what she might hear next. She didn't want to accept the fact that Veer just might be as evil as she initially thought. The next part Bani couldn't hear due to some trucks from the catering company backing up into the driveway. Veer turned his back to Bani and gripped Daksh's arm tight. He tried to drag him away to another place because he knew Bani would be there shortly but Daksh didn't budge. You really are a spineless bastard aren't you? Tumaare lounge mein jo hua voh kham nahi tha kya? Uske bhaad bhi tum moo uthaake yahaan agaaye? Daksh grinned and said Lekin tumhi toh invite kiya tha? Biwi kya agaayi tum apne doston ko diye hue vaadhe hi bhool gaye? Veer remembered that infact a month ago he did invited Daksh to the success party of their Dubai branch. He shut his eyes to calm himself down and glanced over at the entrance of the house. Thankfully Bani wasn't there yet. Daksh followed his gaze laughed out loud. Toh kya pehna hai Bani ne aaj? Main bhi dekhu...vaise I've missed one thing about her. That banging body...all I could focus on was that...damn...Veer you're a lucky man. Muje bass ek raath ke liye Bani dedo...come on. For old time sakes. Right away Veer turned around and pushed Daksh back until his back hit the pillar. Bani couldn't see anything now and thought they were just messing around because Daksh was laughing and she couldn't see Veer's expression. The next thing she heard Veer say made her want to just fall to the ground and cry. Tumein Bani chahiye?! Ek raath ke liye?! Bani stepped back and her back hit the pot behind her. She looked up at the duo and then back down in disgust. Her lips trembled and eyes were filled with tears at this point. She was frozen. She could barely even breathe right now. Veer heard the pot crash to the ground and turned his head as well. When he stepped a bit to the side he realized she was there all along. His heart broke and the sky came crashing down on him upon the realization that she may have heard everything and misunderstood. Bani? Bani...main...please let me explain....I...Daksh...sweetheart....I didn't...Veer jumped over the two foot brick wall which separated the front car path from the central garden and fountain and held Bani's hands as she almost fell to the ground.
