"It's time to wake up, honey." Your mother says, flicking on the lights in your room. You groan, rolling over in bed and hiding your face in your pillow.

You keep on forgetting that your mom's taking a few days off of work to stay with you and make sure you're okay.

That morning, when she found you with Sero, she was ready to rip you a new one, but you explained the whole situation to her, and she eased up a bit. She's been very kind and understanding like she always is, and it's nice to have her around more.

"Five more minutes." You groan into the pillow, hiding your face in it and trying to shut the world out. "No, no more five minutes. You have to get ready before your friend comes to pick you up. The funeral's in less than an hour."

Knowing you won't be able to sleep, you sit up in bed and stretch, opening your eyes. "Can't you come with me, Mama? I'll feel so much better with you there."

"I can't, I have to work from home. Also, I never even met the girl, it would be kind of rude for me to go, don't you think?" She tells you, and you sigh, knowing she's right.

"You always have to work. It's so annoying." You pout. "I know, but that's how it is working as a nurse, honey. No days off. No holidays. Just long shifts. But I've saved enough vacation days for us to go somewhere nice, soon, okay?"

She strokes a hair behind your ear, before kissing your forehead. "And it's not like you'll be going alone. You'll go with Sero, and there will be people from school that you'll know. You also get to wear that cute black dress too. Now go and get ready."

With that, your mom stands up and leaves the room, while you walk over to the closet and grab the dress she was talking about. You lay it out on the bed, with a pair of simple black flats to match.

You go through your typical routine, brush your teeth, do your skincare, style your hair into something simple, and do some light makeup. Just as you're putting on the dress, you hear the doorbell ring, and your mom shouting from downstairs.

"(Y/n)! Sero's here!" Rushing, you struggle with the zipper, trying to zip up your back completely. Giving up, you slip into your flats when your mom calls your name again.

"I'm coming!" You say, running downstairs, almost tripping over yourself as you do so. Spotting Sero with a grin, you run over to him, letting him wrap his arms around you.

"What's up girlie? You look amazing!" He compliments, picking you up and spinning you around. You giggle, letting him put you back down on the floor.

"You look good too." You compliment. He does look good, wearing a simple grey suit with matching pants and dark shoes. His hair is tied back, and his ear piercings are taken out, for the funeral.

"Yes, you look very handsome, Sero. Would you like anything to eat or drink? Or to take with you on the road?" Your mother offers.

"I'm good, but thank you." Sero declines. Your mother glances over at the clock, before looking back at you.

"You guys should get going. The funeral starts in fifteen minutes. Here, (y/n) take this and eat it on the way there. Let me know if you need anything!" Your mother tosses you a granola bar, before rushing you out of the house.

Sero opens the door for you, before walking around on the driver's side and hops in, buckling himself up and starting the car. As soon as you pull out of the parking lot, you know what he's going to say. What he's been waiting to say.

"If you say anything about my mom, I swear to god, Sero, I'll puncture your balls with your keys, and make sure you can't have babies with any moms." You threaten, unwrapping your granola bar and taking a bite.

"What??? I wasn't going to say anything. But wouldn't it be nice if she and I got along a little better? Who knows, maybe I can be your stepdad. Then you can finally call me daddy."

You spat out all of the food you were once chewing, now coughing and sputtering. "Okay, okay, that might've been too far."

"Yeah, no shit Sero! What the fuck's wrong with you?!" You snap, smacking the back of his head.

"Sorry, sorry, it sounded much better in my head, and I thought it would be funny. But hey, you spat out your granola bar all over my dashboard and you hit me, so are we even?" He asks, holding up his hand.

You glare at him, he wiggles his eyebrows and fingers, and you can't stay mad at him. Sighing, you shake his hand. "Fine, we're even."

Sero pulls up to the church, completely changing the once happy atmosphere to something more melancholy. Now you're going to have to go to this funeral, a firm reminder that your ex-best friend is dead. That she killed herself, and you can't help but feel guilty.

Taking a shaky breath, you exit the car, stepping outside and eventually following Sero into the chapel. Inside, there are tons and tons of people, most of which are from your school, not that you're surprised.

You and Sero find a seat in the back, behind Kaminari and Kirishima. Even Kaminari seems more glum than usual. Still, he seems happy to see you, flashing you and Sero a small smile and greeting you.

Then, Bakugo walks in. He looks good, dawned in a black suit and dress pants and all. You have to admit, you've missed him, and he looks sad.

Of course, you're all sad. Especially the boys around you. They were all close with her, after all. But there's a certain twinge of sadness and guilt in his eyes that can't help but make you feel bad.

So, you get to your feet, walking over, and hugging him. "Bakugo, how are you doing? I missed you."

"I'm fine." And to your surprise, he hugs you back, strong arms holding you gently. Even though it only lasts for a moment or two, it feels like an eternity.

But, he lets you go, sitting in front of you, waiting for the funeral to begin.

--

It's not long until the priest and family members speak, giving their eulogies. They all talk about what a wonderful and bright girl she was, how she could charm anyone she talked to, and how loved she was.

Seeking out comfort, you reach over and grab Sero's hand, intertwining your fingers with his. He looks down at your hand, before looking back up at you and smiling, squeezing it gently. You squeeze his hand back.

Just as the eulogies finish, Kirishima gets up and walks out, Bakugo following after him. You're curious, but you don't say anything.

--

Bakugo watches as Kirishima paces around, pinching the bridge of his nose, trying to hide the tears falling down his face. He looks destroyed, heartbroken, and angry.

"You did it, didn't you? You killed her." His voice is shaky, and he's glaring at Bakugo. "Ejirou, listen, I didn't have a choice-"

Kirishima punches him, shoving him backward. "Shut up. Shut the fuck up. I loved her. I fucking loved her and you- you took her from me. I don't care what you do anymore, I'm not going to tell anyone, but I don't want to see or talk to you anymore, maybe I won't even talk to you ever again, just leave me alone."

And with that, Bakugo walks away, knowing he has no other choice, feeling horrible about ruining one of the best friendships he's ever had.
