Adrenaline rushed like blood in your veins, blood pounded in your head, and your ears began ringing. The first, full, five seconds of the race were utter pandemonium. The narrow entrance to the gate made it impossible for the multitude of students to get through easily.
'The first filter is at the starting line' you thought, and you knew you weren't the only one. As your feet started to carry you forward, some split-dyed b*stard froze your toes to the floor. Along with everyone else. You tried to filter out what the rest of the racers verbally abused him with, as well as your own thoughts. Instead, you focused on directing all heat in your body to your feet.
The ice at your feet started to melt away, and you slipped on out of the crowd, along with most the rest of your class.
"WE WON'T LET YA GET AWAY THAT EASY, YA TWO-FACE!!" Bakugou yelled, chasing after Todoroki's heels.
"Well... more of you were able to dodge than I thought..." Todoroki said lamely.
And suddenly, that more became less as the little grape pervert that I shall not bear a name to was smashed out of the picture by a giant robotic arm. It was the villain-bots from the entrance exam, and the level 0 ones at that.
Present Mic's voice suddenly sounded over the arena. "THE FIRST BARRIER: A ROBO INFERNO!!"
Inferno was definitely no exaggeration. There were hundreds of those things. There was no getting past them without a tussle.
"Where do they get the funding for this...?" Yao-Momo said, genuinely curious. Todoroki didn't stick around to find an answer. Instead, he simply frosted them all. As he ran through, he looked back to see everyone who followed the path he created.
'It's a trap,' you realize, but only just in time. The robots had been froze in a precarious position, crashing down on the others who tried to follow in the arrogant boy's footprints.
"1-A'S TODOROKI HAS FORGED AHEAD AND BLOCKED THE OTHERS IN ONE FELL SWOOP!!! HARSHHH!"
"There's people trapped underneath the wreckage!" you call out to anyone, grabbing at the robots' broken body parts. Suddenly, Kiri pops out of the metal with a hardened fist. Actually, all of his body is hard as a rock with his quirk activated.
"I'd be dead if I wasn't me!" He says in unison with an iron covered guy with suspiciously similar hair who burst out as well.
"Lucky they don't gotta worry bout being crushed," you hear Kaminari complain.
"Hey guys, let's all team up to help carve a path through for all of us," you hear someone say, but you don't care to look. You quickly and nimbly vault over the crash of robots and start zipping around the slow legs of the giant metal machines.
"DOWN LOW DIDN'T WORK FOR 1-A'S BAKUGOU, SO HE TOOK THE HIGH ROAD!! CLEVER!"
'Clever indeed.' Clever enough to put him just in front of you as you exit your death maze of moving, metal feet.
"With your personality, I was sure you'd just bust your way through." Sero follows suit by pulling himself up and over the robots, landing himself next to you. The bird-brain Tokoyami also flies down with his dark shadow.
"THE CURRENT LEADERS OF THE PACK ARE OVERWHELMINGLY FROM CLASS A!!"
'He better shut up about it before everyone hates us even more," you grumble as you continue to run. More and more people start to trail behind you as others from 1-A bust through, primarily Yao-Momo's f*ckin CANNON.
"SO THE FIRST BARRIER WAS A PIECE OF CAKE, HUH?! HOW ABOUT THE SECOND?!!" From your point of view in third place, you were only a few meters away from the obstacle that the annoying announcer was talking about.
