Chapter 12 - Parents Of The Little Annabelle Were SomethingReturning to school wasn't at the top of my 'to do list'. It was rather expected to be at the bottom and beyond that point. A week had passed and the doctor said I'll be fine to return back to school in a week after I get out.
So here I am, sitting in Kate's car and taking deep breaths for what I'm about to face. The school hasn't seen much of me lately since senior year just started and this is the third week.
I however have only been here for one week. Missing the second week due to a drunk party clash that could've ended up way worse than wearing glasses. All those poor people who ended up in a wheelchair or passed away due to this, I feel so terrible for them and here I am worrying about my own faze about what people will think of me.
They might come up to me and say 'four-eyed freak', 'part of the nerd-expo', 'I can't believe something would happen like this' or even 'I'm sorry'.
"Franny, are you okay?" Kate asks breaking me from my thoughts. I look up at her and nod, rubbing my sweaty hands on my black skirt and adjusting my glasses that Dad promised we'd go out and get.
I grab my shoulder bag that carries Lucy and open up the car door. But stepping out might've one of the things I have been waiting for since this morning. I smile at the sight of Nathan who is talking to his friend Josh. Kate swerves around the corner to the parking lot as I walk over to the guys.
"Hey Nate." I nervously say. "Hi Josh."
They both turn to look at me with big toothy grins and pull me in for a giant bear hug that not even Pooh Bear could escape. I gasp for air and they start laughing whilst pulling back.
"I can see that you're still nervous about today, right?" Josh asks with a raised eye-brow.
I nod. "Yes. Today I'll be known as the new Frances May."
"That sounds like something." Nate mumbles. "But just letting you know, I changed my classes for the next two weeks to be guidance for you."
I roll my eyes. "You're not my baby sitter."
"But I am your best friend and best friends look out for one another especially through hard times like this." Nate smiles and leans closer. "Also, if Ashley touches or harms you, I'm not afraid of a bitch fight between me and her."
I laugh at his words before the bell rings, signalling us to class. Kate runs up to us, keys clinging in her hands and a worrying look on her face. She stops in front of us and catches her breath.
"Katie, are you okay?" Nathan asks, putting a hand on her shoulder.
She looks up and nods. "I'm okay but Fran's not."
I frown at Kate's words. "What do you mean I'm not okay?"
"Well when I got out of the car, that bitch Ashley and her little gang of barbies started talking about you loudly because I was walking past them. The things they were saying were making me want to bitch slap her so hard." Kate shakes her head. "But I mostly wanted them to choke on their pom poms."
"Language!" I slap her on the arm and she shoots me a death stare.
"Fine, fall on their heads when getting thrown in in the air." Kate chuckles and I slap her again. "Should've seen that one coming."
*************
Drama was actually quite interesting, even when a guy named Steve tested his horrible singing to be a bit better. In maths we learned our times tables again like we were in Grade 4 all over again.
In biology, we acted out a system and did a diorama that looked like it was found at a dump. History was probably one of the best lessons yet. Apparently we got a new teacher because Miss Orange was away having her baby so in return we got Mr Stone. It's like when you see that college senior that happens to be good looking and so smart then poof! He ends up teaching one of your favourite subjects. And because I have been away, he helped me with all the past work while Nathan who has sat next to me in every class so far today was so uncomfortable.
His face was priceless even when Lucy started crying and set some other babies off. Now that was hilarious!
Right now we're in Health class, ready to give up our plastic baby dolls. Everyone has wanted to get rid of it ever since day two that we got the assignment. Nathan and I have been coping with it as well as Kate and Cole. They've managed to get top of the class for it.
I think I saw that coming because they've been spending nearly every afternoon with each other when Cole doesn't have football practice on and Kate doesn't have to go her parent's fancy dinners and their business' parties.
"Okay class, now as you are aware today is the day where you hand me back the dolls and I give back your percentages. But some people already know because you may have gotten an email saying how you did." Mrs Adams explains, holding her clipboard firmly. "So the partners that got the top percentage was Kate and Cole on 97%."
We all clap and cheer as they bring out their baby boy doll and put it in the tub. "Second place on 94% was Mary and Casper." Once again they stand up and put their baby in the tub as the teacher looks around the room. "Third place on 90% was Nathan and Frances."
Oh lord. I look at Nathan and he gives me a grin that I return. I turn around and take Lucy out of my bag and we stand up, walking to the front. "Goodbye Lucy Dawn May Hayes." I mutter that makes Nate chuckle.
"I'm surprised you still remember that Frannie Boo."
I roll my eyes and place Lucy in the tub. "Parents of the little Annabelle were something."
"Duh. Frannie Boo and Nathan Bacon were the best parents of all time." Nathan laughs.
After a little while, each partner goes up to the front as their names and percentages were called out one by one. Poor Josh got stuck with Ashley and they got second last that made Ashley almost have a heart attack. However the boys were cheering Josh on as he stood up and bowed to his fans.
Hi everyone! So I maybe a bit late to post but I've been catching up on homework and all that because our school has been shut down for a week due to the floods and all that. Sorry if it's another short chapter!!
