Chapter 14 - I'm Going To Detention
Being around popular kids was cool and like a dream that all non-popular kids dreamt about.
You got to hang out with them, go out to parties with them, have a boyfriend/girlfriend and even have people looking up to you like your their goddess/god.
Me on the other hand, doesn't like all of that.
For some reason, I dislike attention very much. If I'm in the bubble of attention, I find a way to pop it so I can roam free and not get the spotlight.
So while I'm here trying to get a decent photo of the school's cheerleading squad, my mind was facing around telling me that I should leave.
But as much as I wish I could listen to it, I'm afraid I can't even follow one single letter. Ms Reagan told me to do this and that she was counting on me so that's what I'm going to have to do.
"Move in a little closer, Jessica and Claudia." I wave my hand over while my other was cautiously rubbing over the click button of my camera. Looking through the leans one more time, I smile. "Okay everyone stay like that for another ten seconds!"
They all groan and roll their eyes.
Yeah I get that they wanted to be on the front cover but they hate being told what to do from a lower class person going by the name of 'Frances Isabelle May'.
"Oh my gosh, May!" A girl screeched. "What the hell is asking so long?"
I roll my eyes and take the shot.
*************
"Excellent report Fran. I'll make sure it will get printed and safely printed onto the paper." Ms Reagen smiled, while fiddling with the paper and photo clipped on together.
Surprisingly, the photo turned out well enough for them to not throw me in a basket ball toss and let me land on my back. Ashley, of course wanted to be the most noticeable so as cheer captain Ashley was in prep in the middle followed by Jessica and Claudia, her backups.
"Thanks Carly and also could you possibly give me a copy and of the article too?" I ask standing up from the stool next to the paper table.
Carly nods and passes me the copy out of her hands. "Just a reminder that you get the fortnight off working here so just return to your normal classes."
I groan in response as the bell rings signalling me towards my next class, Maths.
*************
"Okay so everyone should have done their homework that was set yesterday." The substitute teacher says fiddling with the whiteboard marker. I haven't had time to complete it due to all these advents going on. "If not then right now detention."
This is horrible.
I look at Kate at the back who's sitting next to Josh and Cole who are having a flirting wars towards her.
Ever since that assignment of the baby, her and Cole have gotten close together then Josh and her are now good friends and I'm confused.
It's only been four weeks into Senior Year and I'm thinking of how I can last the next six months at school.
"Frances May? Are you listening to me?" The teacher calls.
I blink a couple of times before answering. "What?"
"Don't answer me with a what?" The teacher spits. "I said, have you done you homework?"
I look at my empty book then back at her. "Ugh, yes miss."
"You don't sound so sure." She quirks an eyebrow at me. "Anyways if you did what is the answer the question 6?"
The teachers tricks always work. So I pack away my books and pencil case, pull my side bag over my shoulder and stand up from my seat.
"Where do you think your going?" She spits at me once again.
I walk towards the door with the whole class staring at me with the thoughts of scribbles. But I stop at the door and spin on my heel towards her.
"I'm going to detention." I said with a smirk before running out of the room and shutting the door behind me while the class clapped and cheered.
Kate just stood up and pretended to shovel cash off her hand.
I walk down the hallway flushing with giggles and a blank mind.
The real Frances May would never do this, but the Frances May that is doing her senior year with pride would do this.
I look at the doors and lockers walking down the halls. I've never been to detention, but Patrick has multiple times. As well as Nathan and Josh.
It was a little surprise to see Kate, Cole and Josh actually do their homework otherwise they could've done it together.
I laugh at the thought of them studying then stop at the front of the detention door. The sign detention was set in straight, bold letters across the door.
Taking a deep breath, I turn the door knob. I step inside the room glancing around.
A teacher who's asleep at his desk, posters and inspirational quotes all around, a couple of students here and there but then there's Nathan in the distance talking up a conversation with a perky black haired.
I take a fill out sheet from the teachers desk and walk to the back of the room next to the window. I sit down and start to fill out the sheet.
The questions are just about how I ended up here and why I did it and all that.
"So how did you end up here?" Nathan asks sitting in front of me.
"So how did you impress a girl?" I respond back with a smirk.
Nate rolls his eyes then looks at the slip I'm writing out. "Blah, blah, blah." He mutters then his eyebrows shoot up in surprise like he found gold. "Bad girl!"
He thwacks my arm making me growl at him. "Why did you hit me, Nathan?" I frown at him.
"For being naughty in class." He smiles. "Anyways what was the reaction when you walked out of the classroom?"
I shuffle in my seat. "They thought I was some badass so did Kate and Josh." I look down at the ground at his name that made Nate laugh.
"Well I think you may be at times now that you've changed." He says that makes me frown.
"What do you mean?"
"There's a monster!" The teacher yells making us jump as he awakes from his sleep.
Now I'll never know what was so good about my change from Nathan.
