It was time for the Death Game, everyone who had joined the Death Game stood at the main gathering place. The place was an island known as Orion's Crest. The place was huge for that matter. I looked around at all the competition. Who would have thought that the catchphrase was actually true, I had thought silently. There were many humans of course, some had multiple limbs, some were bulky, others were small. It was a wide variety of people that stood in the crowd. We all waited for the announcer to start speaking.
Then a loud speaker finally came into earshot, the microphone squeaked a little before a person spoke. The speaker was Headmaster Originac. "Welcome beings, to the Death Game. Here you will be put to the greatest tests of strength, endurance, intellect and will. If you lose in battle, or by one of the fields causes, then you are dead.
"The tracker under the field is 500 feet below the ground. It senses you're spiritual presence, its radius is at least 5,000 feet. If you have an air battle make sure your wrist tech is not saying anything over 4,500 feet or else you will not be caught in the trackers spirit net. When you get caught in the spirit net then you will be able to be revived by medical assistance after they take your body and transfer it over to the doctoring team. There are at least 500 capable warriors here on the island, half of these warriors are the competitors the other half is staff that help disqualify any competitor that is not playing by the rules.
"Rule number one: No spirit control of a competitor whatsoever. Rule number 2: Never go past 4,500 feet in the air for an air battle. Rule number three: There is only one winner in the Death Game, there can never be more than one, and whoever tries to break that rule will automatically be disqualified.
"Other than these three main rules, there are no other rules to how you play. Now as I said, if you die, the tracker will catch your spirit with a net so that way it won't be lost forever. Your body will also be taken up by the faculty, cleaned and healed by the doctoring team so they can bring your spirit back to your body.
"The winner of this competition gets a set of wishes that will grant you anything that you would like to be how you specify. This is a set of 13 wishes contained inside of a solid gold skull. If you win it, it will only react to your own voice and touch. So to the best of luck to you as you should not lose sight of the goal." Originac finished his explanation to the 250 competitors.
I looked at my wrist tech, it had a countdown. Then I looked forward as a holographic screen on the gate appeared. "The area you are in is not a kill zone. You will be required to leave the zone in a race to get to the kill zone. Once you make it to the kill zone, then you may begin the fight. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, START!" I read the screen. The main gate began to slide upwards like an automatic door. I was near the front of the crowd. The door was completely open when the screen said to start.
Everyone began to run straight towards the kill zone. It seemed like a bare and wide hallway. But not only was it that but it was rigged with traps. The first person to step on one of the pressure plates was caught in pieces as a set of pendulum axes began to swing back and forth. When it stuck people who were the first to die, everyone began to get cautious. I myself had slid under the swinging axes, it was like I was in the Matrix or something. Any other people behind me might have gotten sliced up or moved on ahead.
Then I had stepped onto a pressure plate, and boy was I in for it. As I was running several different turrets had popped up, and started firing arrows. I had closed my eyes shut tight and was hoping for the worst. Then I opened them. Nothing had touched me, I was in the shape of a glowing white orb. "Well, that worked out well" I stated as I had passed through the trap with ease. I dodged every arrow that had come near me. Suddenly I head a weird sound, as if the metal floor beneath me and the competitors was cracking. I turned around to see Henry charging past the arrows with a metallic body armor covering himself. Then I noticed a small hole in the floor behind him.
"So using the field as an advantage huh, well then, you aren't a metal bender for nothing aren't you huh" I chuckled.
I moved on and turned back into my normal body. My celestial garments did have armor to go with it, but not enough. So I pushed on ahead, other competitors were beside me and Henry was catching up. One competitor I saw had stepped on a pressure plate as well, causing a large pitfall trap up ahead. I moved on, then someone quick jetted past me. It was Yurik.
The man had sprouted scaly wings from his back, of course "The Dragon Child" would think of a basic idea like that. Yurik got close to the pitfall, and he leaped into the air and flapped his wings. When I got close enough I jumped into the air as well, and created a shadowy field underneath me. No one could really see it because of the pitch black underneath me. I had wondered what was really down there though.
Then one competitor had seemillngly not thought in time to try and keep himself alive. When he fell down into the pitfall, the man had landed on something...spiky. I heard a shunk sound, it had to be a bunch of spikes. But I kept on moving forward I wonder how many are left to be able to fight. I soon passed over the trap, and Henry passed by me. He was running across the metal wall.
Well then I wonder who else might make it?
As I continued, I began to see light, and it was brighter than the long hallways light. I passed through, and at first all was silent. Then the light faded away. The amount of people that were soon left from the race were the only ones standing in the gated area before us. It was another gate thankfully I wouldn't have to fight anyone right away. I then looked around, it looked like a small camp, maybe to rest our bones for a moment.Though I wasn't tired much, I decided to take a breather anyways. Even though I was a Creator, I had a long ways to go. Then an announcer came on the sound board. It was Headmaster Originac, "Welcome competitors to the next stage of the Death Game. I hope you all have had your fun with the race. The traps must have all been astounding for you. Either way now it is time to take a 24 hour rest for the next day of battle. When the 24 hours are over, then we will enter the next area by walking to the battle field center. When we get there then you may all fight to your hearts content. But for now, we shall all relax for tomorrows portion of the Death Game."
