Chapter 17 : Heroes to Protect

Part 1

Not too long after an all-out war against Clayman's forces, demon lords were notified about the recent events. Most of them never cared in the slightest, while a few were curious of his absence.

At present, a Walpurgis was in motion with Guy Crimson as it's centre of attention. The large room consisting of a round table had several figures seated around, over their respective chairs. These were the participants of the ongoing banquet; also feared by their title of the Ten Great Demon Lords.

Guy : Heh~ So what you are proposing is, that you will operate as a bridge between us and those humans?

His question was neither directed towards any of the demon lords nor their servants present at the scene, but rather to a woman who was facing the Lord of Darkness with a determined look in her eyes. With both of her hands resting over the table, she gave him a firm nod without any hesitation.

While folding his arms around his chest, Guy gradually closed his eyes, humming in a deep thought as the whole room fell silent for a moment.

Guy : Personally speaking, I find this a pretty reasonable offer and my workload will be greatly reduced. Still, to keep things fair, we'll have a majority call. Raise your hands if you're in agreement with this proposal.

Moments later, 7 demon lords including Guy raised their hands in confirmation. Dino was asleep without a care, leaving Leon to be the only one not to raise his hand. Analysing the whole room with his gaze, Guy smirked and motioned his hand back down on his thigh.

Guy : 7 in agreement and 2 er... 1 in disagreement. Looks like it's settled then.

"Seems like it"

Guy : We accept your proposal, lady, but in return you must fulfill the conditions I mentioned before.

Shizu : Don't worry, I'm ready to join your ranks, Demon Lord Guy. And if I may, I would like you to call me Shizue.

Guy : Hmpf, alright. Now that it's all settled, let's begin our banquet.

Milim : Yay...! food~!

As if she was past her limit, Milim threw herself upon the hot piping food plate which Raine served quite elegantly.

Guy and Misery were surprised to witness the one ever-clumsy maid to work with such an absolute perfection.

Noticing their gazes, the blue primordial proudly puffed her chest and had her face plastered with a wide complacent grin.

'Must be the results of training mother gave her.' thought Misery.

The banquet went peacefully without any trouble, or so everyone thought.

Leon who was just about to leave, approached Shizu and stood in front of her, glaring straight into her eyes.

Shizu : Ara, if it isn't demon lord Leon.

Leon : To think you were still alive, and that too without Ifrit.

Shizu's face darkened for a bit, but she immediately retracted, stood up from her chair and returned Leon's glare with her own.

Witnessing the ongoing confrontation, Guy, Milim and Luminas appeared clearly excited while Ramiris had a sweatdrop running down her cheek.

The atmosphere stiffened, yet it was nothing but a small play for the most powerful beings.

Shizu : Ifrit was seperated from me, and I was given a second chance in my life which I'll devote to my saviour without hesitation. However, there's this one question which has been lingering inside my head for quite a while that I wanted to ask you... Why did you summoned me?
