"And Nora-" he paused, "I love you."

I replayed the voicemail several times. He loved me. Niall loved me.

Someone actually did.

I turned away from the window as looked at Kenny, who was still out. They had to shave the fuzzy patches off, he looked pale and sickly.

They had him on Chemotherapy. An oxygen mask was also put in place.

I sat down on the chair, defeated. He deserved better. Every since he was born, he was always in and out of hospitals, trying to beat his cancer. I couldn't fathom how he acquired Lung Cancer since I don't smoke, nor anyone around him. But the doctors told me he had received it through genetics. Not mine, his.

A knock came to the door, then opened, Margie poked her head in and smiled. "Hey."

I wiped my face, "Come in." She walked over and sat some flowers and a giant bear on the table with the other gifts. She hugged me. Then looked at Kenny.

She pursed her lips to stop it from quivering, "What did they say?"

"His body is rejecting treatment. The cells are multiplying rapidly." I sighed. As I looked at my small child.

"Oh God. Why don't you go get something to eat? I'll watch him."

"I don't know, Marg. I should be here when he wakes. I can't handle being away from him right now." I admitted.

She nodded, "I understand. How about I go get you something then?"

I shook my head, "Not really hungry."

"Nora, you making yourself feel ill, won't make Kenny better. Look, how about an apple at least?"

"No. I'll just throw it up."

"How about a water, then?" I nodded, "Thanks."

She smiled and disappeared from my sight. I looked back at Kenny, his small chest rising and falling. I closed my eyes and knelt by his side.

I grabbed his hand with mine, "Dear God, thank you for giving me my beautiful son. Give him the strength to-" I caught my breath, "To pull through. Thank you. Amen."

I closed my eyes and started crying again. I let his hand slowly fall, I bawled into my hands.

I felt someone stroke my hair, lightly. "Mummy." A soft voice mumbled.

I looked up to see Kenny smiling. That made me cry even harder, "Hi baby."

"Where are we?" He looked around.

"Uh, we are in the hospital, visiting Dr. Westmore."

"Mum?"

"Yes?" I stroked his head.

"Am I dying?" I froze, "Baby, what would make you say that?"

His face fell, "I feel like poop. I hurt, and there's tubes in me."

"This isn't dying. You'll never know that feeling." I lied. He made a small smile, "Thanks mum."

. . .

"And Nora," he paused, "I love you." I listened to the voicemail for the seventh hundredth time.

"Call him." My mom said when she came by. Kenny had fallen asleep again, the drugs made him tired.

"Mom. I'm fine."

"Don't you think he would want to hear from you. And know about Kenny? Nora. You call him now."

I sighed as I realized she was right, I dialed his number.

Niall Horan

"Still nothing?" Louis said as we practiced kicking the ball back and forth.

"No."

"It's because you dropped the L word on her." Louis smirked.

"I told you that in confidence." I whined.

"Yeah, you did. But how did I respond?'

I sighed, " Niall, you are a little bitch." I quoted.

"Say it."

"I'm a little bitch."

"Louder!" Louis yelled, causing the team to eye us.

"Louis-"

"I'll call Nora and told her of Bar 44." My face turned red, as I knew what I had to do.

"Tick tock. Tick tock." Louis mocked.

"Fine. I AM A LITTLE BITCH!" I yelled. Causing everyone to laugh.

"Hey little bitch!" Coach Taylor yelled at me. Everyone laughed again. I ran over, "Sorry coach."

"I don't know what you and Tommo are trying to prove but you got a phone call."

I chuckled as I ran over to the assistant and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?"

"Niall."

"Nora! Hey, I was-"

"There's something I need to tell you." She cut me off.

"Yes?"

"Kenny is in the hospital. His cancer-" I took off to the parking lot, after grabbing my keys and jacket from the bench.

"Horan!" My coach yelled. I ignored him, the only thing I was worried about was Kenny and Nora.
