Dating amongst kpop idols in South Korea is regarded to be a "scandal" that is, it is regarded as an action considered as morally wrong (sometimes legally wrong (if it were on a contract basis)) and causing general public outrage. It's dumb asf but that's SK to you. So dating amongst idols is so taboo in Korea that it actually taints the image of the idols(like what it did to jen and kai and baekhyun and hyunA and Dawn and soooo many other idols who got unlucky). So if it were true that HYBE willingly put the reputation of Kim Taehyung at risk by "creating" this rumour, then HYBE would be digging their own grave. Why?
Kim Taehyung is one of the major shareholders (owners) of HYBE and has been since September 2021.
