Chapter Two Escaped and fated meetings Layla's Point of view

As I slowly gain consciousness, I notice that I'm in a metal cage. A cage that is slowly filling up with water... Wait, why am I in a metal cage that is slowly filling with water?! I look around in a panic and much to my alarm I see a bound and gagged and looking at me with purple magic tears in his eyes he looks borderline hysterical just squirming and wiggling around trying to get to me as the cage completely fills up with water. After about 16 minutes though I can't take it anymore my lungs start to feel like they are about to burst. I instinctively start trying to breathe only to find that I can in fact breathe underwater with extreme discomfort. I take a few minutes to reorientate myself before swimming to Cross and try to comfort him as I most likely terrified him. After a bit I maneuver the upper part of my pelt into a scarf though I still have my lower half seal. I wrap my arms around Cross's skeletal torso to try to calm him down with my chest resting right against him to reassure him that I'm still here. As our soulbeats beat in unison we both calm down as I noticed that I'm tense as well as I try to dispel our fears.

Time skip to a week later

Cross and I have been stuck in this cage for about a week if my internal clock is anything to go by and we have been going stir crazy dew to being trapped and hearing life going about outside our prison. Thought after a few hours Cross and I hear something outside and I slipped the seal skin on completely while Cross shoves me behind him eventually as we waited with baited breath the door to our prison gets ripped off then Cross grabs me and swims towards the surface so that I could finally breathe a breath of fresh air. After breaching the surface of the water I started coughing and sputtering while Cross steadied me. Seas that did NOT feel good I think, some time after I turned and faced the ones who rescued us and was met with a skull in my face I yelped and instinctively swam back. Cross after hearing my yelp puts himself between me and the strange mer. "Hello I'm Layla and this thresher mer is Cross and thank you for saving us." I say politely looking at them from behind Cross. The squid mer looks very hyper and tries to get at me again but the other mer that we didn't notice before is holding him back. Probably better that way honestly Cross looks seconds away from a frenzy. We eventually split from the duo and headed out on our own.

Time skip 2 months

It has been an eventful 2 months we met nice and playful Goldfish and a bull shark named Dream and Killer and now we are playing a new game Killer and I came up with called Chase when suddenly the unthinkable happened and killer was harpooned in the tail. Dream bolted to me and Killer along with Cross. Cross helped me carry him while Dream led us quickly to where his brother and Killer's shiver were after some talking about where the best place to take him would be. Though the deeper we go though the more right I felt in my soul I could feel it this is where we were meant to be. We eventually made it to the deep though when a oceanic white tip mer tried to take killer away from me and Cross I would make a watery growl which surprised every and what surprised us even more I had no problem handing him over to the great white mer however I still followed and when Killer made a pained noise I had the giant octopus mer hold him while Cross had him bite down on his arm while I yanked the harpoon out and healed him then promptly passed out.
