Chapter 4 Meeting Blank again Cross's Point of view

I was coming back from hunting with a full bag of mackerel and my sword when I saw Nightmare Killer and Dream. And in Nightmare's tentacle is a white puffball that... wait is that "Blank?" I ask in a voice quivering. I dropped everything knowing that I could retrieve it later though that thought was a phantom in my mind. What was on my mind was that Layla would be so happy that Blank was found safely and soon to be back to her. Before we even got back Blank was ripped away from us into Layla's arms. Me, Killer, Dream and Nightmare swim out of earshot to give them some form of privacy. Eventually I hear Layla's faint chirp letting us know we could come back and when we do we see her glowing face. Somehow, we all ended up in a cuddle pile with Layla and Dream wrapped around Blank and then me next is Dust after him is Horror and finally Nightmare in his big form is wrapped around us. Blank eventually wiggles out of the cuddle pile while the rest of us look at them in a mixture of amusement and confusion. Cwoss! Aunty Lay! Look Blank yells and blank shifts into a shark mer pup. As it turns out Blank is a mage as well. After that we find out Blank has been adopted by another selkie and that we need to get them back up to our land dweller mate Kelp and we do and he finds out that Blank is a mage. We also decided to have blank after morning and nights. Blank is hunting with Dust and Horror while me and Layla "help" Killer with something he needs when we finish we see Dream and he heals up the bite marks on me and Killer as Layla's has already scared over we get back Blank shows us he caught 8 fish which is enough for all of us. To make sure the catch is eaten fresh, Blank's fish are distributed amongst the entire Shiver immediately after that. Nightmare even shrinks back to his smaller form to properly enjoy the catch. We have to explain that he should not give me or Layla the fish's heart. It takes a bit but It finally clicks for Blank. "Ooooh! Kiss-Kiss Wuv! Mama an' Papa wuv!" They look more and more excited. "Cwoss and aunty Lay haz...one...two...tree...fo'...figh! Figh d-d-d-ate...mates!" Blank marvels at the number. "Mo' dan Unca Blue!" After having fun with Blank changing his species It seems Nightmare and Dream recognize Blank's adopted father and they are going to get him. Neither me nor Layla Know how to feel happy that they are going to be reunited with their parental figures or sad that they are leaving and we might not get to see them again. Two days later... Blank shows up with a couple of chocolate bars. Layla stares at the aluminum-wrapped treats in disbelief. "How...? "Aunty Lay happy now? No sad?" Blank pushes, wondering if they did the right thing. "More...?" "Oh Blank" Layla tears up "this is more than enough. You didn't have to get this for me. Was it to cheer me up?" She gathers them into a tight hug. "I'm sorry for worrying you so much. I was just– I don't want you to– I mean, I..." Layla takes a shaky breath. "Blank, Nightmare and Dream left because they recognized your Papa. They're going to bring your family over here. You're going to see your Mama again."
