About a month and a half after the KKS incident, classes have returned to normal, and the test for the provisional protector license exam is in two weeks. We have been preparing for this test since last week, learning new skills that would help one out in combat, along with protecting the innocents. Akio seems to have completely recovered from the KKS incident and has returned to life as it was before, for the most part.
"Alright class, today we will be working on a new skill for combat training. This skill is to be unique to your affinity, and your most powerful attack. You will be working on coming up with and perfecting this skill with partners, helping each other refine and sharpen your techniques." Mr. Kaze glances at Akio but promptly looks away. How is Akio going to learn a move like this? He can barely even use his affinity. "Akio, you will be working with me. You are working on something else today." Akio's aura changes from relaxed and focused, to tense and scared.
"Don't worry, Akio. Mr. Kaze will take good care of you." Akio looks at me and nods, not wanting to say anything for fear of getting called out.
"Alright then, that concludes the description of the day today." Mr. Kaze looks up at the class, a serious look on his face. He steps away from the front of the classroom to the sidewall and pushes a button. Locker-like boxes slide out of the wall, each with a different number on them. "These are your protector costumes. If you remember, you filled out a form at the beginning of the year asking you to describe what you wanted it to look like, and the functions of any accessories." All our classmates look at each other excitedly, the room filling with excited chatter. "If you would all please take these boxes with your protector costumes in them and change into them. Afterward, make your way down to the interior gym.

Akio and I are down in the changing into our protector costumes in the changing room below the classroom. I take a look at the costume once I have it on, and I look pretty cool. My costume has holes for wings in the back, but since my wings are invisible it just probably looks weird. Other than that, my costume is fairly simple. The pants and long-sleeve shirt are a dark-blue color that looks almost black with white streaks lining my arms and legs. There is a silver belt I put on that has tiny cylinders on it that carry first-aid supplies for on-field treatments. I am probably going to end up adjusting this costume later on in the year for some upgrades. I look at Akio and see him in his white and silver costume. His costume is way cooler than mine, with his wings on his back and the coloring matching him perfectly. He has boots that come up a few inches below his knees, similar to mine, except he has iron soles for extra power in his kicks. His costume is built to enhance physical strength since his affinity isn't best suited for the battlefield. His costume's hood has a collar that is slightly below his chin, making it harder for someone to hit the soft spots in his neck. The rest of his costume is a slightly baggy one-piece with a belt similar to mine. I walk over to Akio, both of us in costume, and smile.
"You look great, Akio! A nice choice for a costume!" He looks down at himself, probably rating how he looks. Then he looks up at me, and his eyes widen.
"Wow, Hajime! Speak for yourself, your costume is so cool! The designs are so simple, allowing for maximum range of motion, while also being fit for your affinity!" I laugh quietly and smile at him.
"Come on, Akio. Let's head to the indoor gym." Akio nods and smiles as we start making our way toward the gym.

The inside of the gym is huge, the giant mountain of rocks at the back of the room creating a shadow over the rest.
"Get started, everyone." I make my way toward the top of the mountain, but before I can even get ten steps in, Mr. Kaze's voice calls for Akio. Right, I forgot about that.

I walk over to Mr. Kaze, trying my best to keep my posture straight and my wings held high. I look up at Mr. Kaze, and he looks down at me.
"I understand that your affinity isn't best suited for the battlefield, am I correct?" I nod, not daring to speak yet. The last time I spoke with Mr. Kaze one-on-one, I blew up in his face. I don't need that happening again. Mr. Kaze pauses, thinking about what to do about me. We stand there awkwardly for about a minute until he finally speaks. "Alright, here's what you're going to do." I look up at him, determination swirling in my eyes. "Since you're always around Hajime so much, you'll be working with him to come up with something that involves the two of you." My eyes go wide, an emotion that feels too close to love surging through my body. "Keep in mind, Hajime will still have to come up with one for himself alone as well." That feeling dissipates, but I can still feel it washing through me. "I would recommend working on the move that includes both of you first, then train on your own." I nod and turn to walk away.
"Thank you, Mr. Kaze." I can feel him looking at my back, but I never hear him respond.

Akio walks over to me, the look of fear has disappeared from his face. I smile and get back to thinking about my move. I could do a mix between all my wolf abilities at once and my affinity. This is going to be hard if I can't use my wings. I should probably just tell them who I am; of course, they probably already know.

"Hey, Hajime!" I nearly jump out of my skin at the sound of Akio's voice right next to me.
"Oh my god Akio, you scared me!" I laugh as I sit on the ground, and he laughs right along with me. I must have been deep in thought not to notice him coming up behind me. "Is there something you need?" Akio smiles and offers me his hand to help me up. I take his hand and hoist myself up.
"Mr. Kaze said that we would be working together for the move! You still have to come up with your own, of course, but he said that because of my affinity, we could come up with one together!" My face lights up, and my mind explodes with a blizzard of new ideas.
"You have no idea how many ideas I have for this, Akio." I smile, and so does he. "Alright then! Let's get this party started!"
