By now all of you must've seen the fuss about the Agnipath yojna or Agnipath scheme in recruitment of the army. Some points are valid while some are motivated by certain propaganda.
So I thought to acquaint you all with facts about the Agnipath scheme, its pros and cons, and give a clear view as to what it is. Nitish Rajput on YouTube explained this scheme very nicely.
Before we begin you must know what Permanent commission and Short Service Commission (SSC) is.
People of different ages are needed in each wing of army. In some wings you must serve till you're 40, while in others you may serve till you're 50.
If you go through Permanant Commision, you must serve till the decided age of that wing, which you have chosen. After that you retire and get the benefits of Ex-servicemen like pension and gratuity.
While in Short Service Commission, you may serve for 10 years, which in some places can be extended till 14 years. After that you retire but you don't get any pension.
Along with Permanent Commision and SSC, now there is a new way of recruitment for soldiers (Jawans). Be clear, it is not the recruitment for officers but Jawans. This recruitment scheme is Agnipath.
But Agnipath scheme is not an alternative way for the recruitment of Jawans, it is now the only way which would be used.
So within Agnipath scheme, boys from the age of 17.5 to 21 (for the first batch age is extended to 23) and have passed class 10th and 12th, can apply for the Agnipath scheme. This scheme is yet to be open for women, but it is being said that it will open soon.
The same recruitment process would be followed which was followed earlier, same physical and medical exams will be there. There will be no changes in the recruitment process.
When the recruitment will start, 46000 boys will be recruited and will get more salary than they would've gotten in the old structure.
But they will get less in-hand salary as 30% will go to Agniveer fund and the same amount Goverment will also deposit in the Agniveer fund. Like PF.
Only 25% of them will be selected army, rest Agniveers shall retire after 4 years and get 11.71 lakh with interest, and against this fund you can also take loan upto 18 lakhs.
And till you are in the service, you will also get an insurance of 48 lakhs. And the Agnipath scheme will provide a special 3 year skill-based bachelor degree programme for serving defence personnel, in order to improve the Agniveers future career prospects and equip them for various job roles in the civilian sector.
And after retiring after 4 years you will get 10% reservation in CAPF and Assam riffles. You will also get preference in Police services.
The scheme seems good so far, then why the protest ? Lemme give you genuine and valid points.
1) No medical, retirement or gratuity benefits would be given that earlier were enjoyed by Jawans, and 11.71 lakh is only one time amount. And if you compare the two, the old one seemed much beneficial.
2) In case an Agniveer is martyred during service then his family won't get a lifetime benefit that they used to get earlier.
3) Government spends on average 80-85 lakhs in the training on one Jawan, and compared to this the term of 4 years seems very less. GD Bakshi and many have requested the term to be extended to 7-8 years.
But this Agnipath scheme is very necessary. Why ? First let's look at the budget of defence expense -
If we calculate the amount spent on salary and pension for someone who gives service till he is 40, and then gets pension for the next 40 years, then the amount spent of Weapon Modernization Technology is very low.
Compared to the army of US, Russia etc, our man power is very high. But Man power becomes almost useless if we don't have sufficient latest technology which these countries have in abundance.
Also the average age of Indian army is 32-35, but it should be less. Because you only say, who would have more stamina ? A Jawan of age 25 or that of 35 ? Hence the age of army should also be reduced.
Through this scheme, less people will be recruited but they will be young. If there is less man power, then the expenses in this sphere will be reduced and we can put that money in buying lastest weapons and technology.
According to Subramaniyam comittee set up after Kargil war, the ratio between the young soldiers and older soldiers in the army should be 1:1, the Agnipath scheme will do just that.
Also through this, A group of youths will rise who would be more patriotic and dedicated to the country. Cause we have seen the vellapanti some brainwashed youths do today.... *Coughs* JNU *coughs*
So there is definitely room for some progress in the Agnipath yojna, but never the less it an excellent and useful scheme.
And to those puppets who say but what about my young age after I retire... I would be throne out without a job... No pension no benefits....
Arrey classless catastrophe.... Who is forcing you to join ? And even if you wanted to join it is clear you don't want to serve the nation.... I can see you wanted to serve for 4 years and then pension se zindagi bhar roti todne ka plan tha tumhara...
And the violent protests and lighting trains and buses on fire done by overage youths.... Lemme tell you these bloody barbarians were never even going to apply for the army... You know why ?
Because a soldier protects his nation, he doesn't burn it to the ground.
