"Today, we won't fly," Mavericks says and we all contain our sighs. This sentence feels like seeing a pitch with no ball and your coach saying that today will be cardio day. "But... don't hate me, today will be even funnier," he smirks. "In order to all survive this mission, you'll need to be a team. You will need to be there for each other. Admirals Simpson and Bates are not there so I can say it, you will need to break the rules if it means saving your teammate's life. This is the most important part of our mission, actually. And you can't learn this in a plane. So today, we're building a team," he says, and our non-released sighs turn into looks of curiosity and excitement. "Who likes football?," he asks and almost all of us raise our hands. "Then football it is," he says and we cheer. "Let's say the beach behind Hard Deck, at 2pm. Take shorts and t-shirt, I'll do my thing to find towels" he says and we all nod. "You'll make two teams of six, try to stay in the same team as the one you're flying with. Come on, make your teams," Maverick says.

Bob slaps my hand, and I wink at him. Rooster turns to us and I signal him to come. Canary, his flying teammate, comes with us. "Hey girl," I greet her, as I know she's not the most integrated of the crew. "I'm not the best at football, but-" "Doesn't matter," Bob gives her a friendly tap on the shoulder. "Payback, Fanboy, wanna come with us?," I shout so that they hear me. They give me thumbs up and the walk to us. "That's 6," I say and they all slap each other's hands.

"Ok, right, I appreciate your choices of team. If someone somehow gets bored, it wouldn't bother me at all to replace them," he says with a smirk and we all laugh. "Let's see the old man running in the sand," Hangman says and Maverick gives him a look of defiance. "You can leave, except Hangman. Let's race on the tarmac, to prove you the old man is still very much here," he says and the tall blonde laughs. "I want to stay and watch this," Coyote says and we all agree.

As a result, we all walk to the runway, and we draw the start and finish lines on the floor, about 500 feet away from each other.
"3, 2, 1, go!," Coyote yells and the two of them begin running. Hangman is slightly ahead, but Maverick doesn't let go and almost gets to his level as Hangman slows down a bit. But then the blonde notices he is being caught up and he quickens until the finish line. Both of them finish the race breathing like crazy, their hands on their knees.

"Not quite bad for an old man," Hangman admits and Maverick slaps his hand. What kind of teacher is thy guy, I wonder and I let out a discreet chuckle. "I would have won if I was your age," Maverick states and Hangman doesn't deny. "Plus you have short legs," the blonde adds with a laugh and Maverick slaps friendly the back of his head. "At least I don't look like Ken from Barbie," the teacher shrugs and we all laugh, including Hangman. "Girls like Ken from Barbie," he states and then again we laugh.

Canary and I exchange a look of "do you confirm that?" and she blushes. Yeah, she confirms.
I, on the other hand, prefer brunettes, especially if they're not as cocky as he is.

"Hard Deck for lunch?," Payback asks and we all accept.

I begin to like this crew.

We all drive peacefully, until I see Maverick and Rooster racing. Rooster signals me to join them, so I accelerate to catch up with them and I join their little game. Of course, my moto being way less powerful than theirs, I end up losing.

"This one was on the moto, not on the pilote," I say as I take off my helmet. I pass my hand in my hair to remove the few hairs stuck to my forehead as they walk up to me. "Nah, you're just a woman, women can't drive," Rooster teases. I slap his arm and Maverick laughs. Rooster has the audacity to laugh and grab my wrists, so I get out of his grip and hit his arm again, harder this time.
