"Once upon a time, a king ruled the entire continent with his iron hands. He had four wives, three princesses from different kingdoms, and a witch. Even if he didn't love them, the king never harmed nor neglected them. Unfortunately, a prophecy changed him for the worse.
'The golden tree will be held by the red-haired princess's hand. Its existence will be glorious until the fire of the princess burned it down into nothingness.'
The prophecy stroke-like lightning when the kingdom brought another victory. As if he was the goat with a burning goatee, the king demanded his wives to kill their newborns if they were a girl. At that time, the last concubine, the witch, was pregnant with her first child. She was so afraid of the prophecy that she hid her pregnancy with magic and kept a secret about it.
Unfortunately, her hair had the same color as the prophecy. Thus, making the king hate her so deeply that he decided to kill her indirectly.
During the day, He enslaved her without any food or drinks and locked her in her room at night. Every day and every night, the witch endured this all alone. She almost loses her mind because of it. Luckily for her, the other king's spouses were on her side in the shadows. The king only knew that his spouses wanted to make the witch suffering more, that's how theycould bring some foods and drinks while visiting her.
Time went by, and the king finally decided to get rid of the witch. He planned to poison her when they were eating together. The king invited the fourth concubine to lunch and bought her a new dress, a beautiful white dress with a pair of bows on both of shoulders. No one could see throughout him - except for one.
The witch was too naive and blinded by the love that the king finally allowed her to have. She didn't see what the king would do to her. With a heart full of flowers, she dressed up and went to the dining hall.
When she arrived, all of the royal family had already begun eating. The empress noticed and invited her to sit beside her. Sadly, that action made the King's plan fail and she became the victim instead of the witch-"
"Mommy, I'm sleepy. Can you quickly finish your story?"
Alexandria gazed at her child with a warm smile, "geez... If you're sleepy, why don't you sleep?"
"It's mommy's fault," his small mouth pouted, "I'm curious about what happens next but you made it longer than it supposed to."
"I'm sorry, Allen. Mom forgot that it's already late for you," she patted his head, "how about you ask me instead? We can finish this quickly and you know the rest of the story. So, it's a win-win for us."
The dark blue eyes sparkled with a little smile shining toward his mother.
"If Mommy insisted, I wouldn't mind it..."
"Good boy," Alexandria kissed him on both of his cheeks," so... Is there any question?"
"Um, what happened after that? Did the empress die after eating the poison?" he asked curiously.
"Luckily, her majesty is still alive." She smiled sadly, "but... She can't have children anymore after her stomach was damaged by it."
"Don't cry... Mommy." Allen held his mother's hand tightly, "or I will cry too..."
"I won't," Alexandria let out her giggle, "See? Mom is smiling right now."
"But, Mommy... Your eyes are still teary... Does that story have a sad ending?"
"It's only a story..." Her eyes regained their sense again, "you're right. Thank you for reminding me, my adorable Allen."
"Hmph! I'm not adorable, Mommy!" The child grumbled while his eyes avoided his mother's eyes.
"Then, what are you?" she tilted her head while acting surprised.
Allen stood up on his bed then beamed with a smile.
"I am the greatest Magic King in the world!"
"Alright, alright, Little King. I remember," she embraced him while pinching his little nose jokingly, "but... It's still time for you to go bed."
"Okay..." Her child went under his blanket obediently, "your story is so cool and scary, Mommy. Will the bad king be after us too?"
"I hope not, my child." Alexandria laughed awkwardly, "Honestly... Mom is scared of him too."
"Don't worry, Mommy. You have me and I will protect you from him!"
Hearing that, her eyes gazes adoringly at her child. While looking at his dark blue-eyes, Alexandria was wondering if her child's father wanted to see him. Yet, even if he had an interest in him, she wouldn't let him near her child though. No matter what, she will protect him with all her might.
"How about the witch, Mommy? Is she okay?"
Her child's question made her snap to reality, she tried to come up with some answer that he could understand.
"You don't have to worry," Alexandria patted her child, "she escaped with his spouses' help. She's running away to different kingdom with the golds that she got from the spouses."
"That's good... I wonder if she's happy now... " Allen smiled with drowsy eyes, "I'm sleepy... Mommy, can you kiss me?"
After ensuring her child was fast asleep, the red-haired lady kissed herchild's head. Then, she whispered near one of the little ears.
"I'm sure...she's happy and living her best with a good child like you, Allen. Good nightand have a nice dream, my little king."
