Oh god, please let us still be together as friends after all of this.
Barbara was fidgeting at her mother's restaurant. She was nervous about what would happen in her relationship with Kenny after the discussion that she will come up to. Even though she needed to focus so there wouldn't be a misunderstanding between them, her mind was full of her childhood best friend. As always, she didn't understand why it could happen to her.
The blonde-haired girl tried to ignore it by eating her special dessert made by her mother. Then, she heard a bell sound. A boy with short dark blonde hair greeted her and sat across from her. He ordered a lunch set C, his usual order when they have friends gathering here, then comfortably waited for her to speak. The vibrant blue-eyed girl tried to come up with a conversation, but she couldn't even open her mouth fully.
Luckily, the dull green eyes noticed and talked to her.
"So... Is there something you want to talk to me, Barbara?"
"Yeah," she replied nervously, "I need you to break up with me, Kenny."
Kenny sighed, "do you have a reason to do this?"
"Yes... I do," Her vibrant blue eyes couldn't look in front of them, "I hope that Kaedo has a happy ending with you."
"Why though?" he asked her gently.
Barbara took a breath and let it go, then answered him carefully.
"You know me better than Kaedo, right?"
Kenny was so shocked that he denied her while standing up from his seat, "Me? Have known you better than your best friend for eight years? Impossible."
The vibrant blue eyes widened as the small spoon stopped in front of her mouth.
"But... Nicholas said that her crush knew me better than her?" she insisted.
It was the dark blonde-haired boy's mouth's turn to be the one that he couldn't close, "Nicholas told you that?"
Barbara nodded and continued, "yeah... Strangely, it's not you."
Calming himself down, Kenny sat on his seat again. When the green-eyed boy's order came, there was silence between them. The boy realized who Nicholas meant, but he just smirked toward his oblivious (girl)friend.
"I know who she is."
"You knew?" Barbara asked with a surprised look on her, "please tell me..."
Kenny smiled and took a bite of his food, "why do you want to know?"
"Umm... Because, she is my best friend?" she said, yet her blue eyes gazing somewhere else while her fingers stimming with the texture of the sofa she sat on.
"Then... If you find her and she will ask Kaedo for a date, would you accept it?"
"I guess? Well, if she dated that girl, it would be the same as when we're dating." She continued eating her dessert while being dejected. "But, why do my chest feel pain now? It's not like I would be lonely when Kaedo didn't give me the same number of affections with her."
The blonde girl finished up her dessert, yet her face still couldn't mutter a smile.
Kenny noticed her changing expression then asked while eating his foods, "what's wrong, Barbara? It's unusual to see you not enjoying your mother's foods."
"Ah. My chest hurts," Barbara replied confusedly, "It's like my heart being crushed by something heavy. I don't know why this happened... I think there's a disease in me."
Kenny laughed while his hand tried to hid the mouth that still chuckling. After the blue eyes glaring at him confusedly, he instantly stopped.
"Did Kaedo tell you about 'Love and Jealousy'?" he asked while raising one of his eyebrows.
The blond-haired girl caressed her special bracelet, "Yes, she did but why are you..."
Then, it hits her.
"Oh no..." she gasped, "I have to break up with you."
The dark blonde-haired boy is smiling because they can move on to the next stage. "Sure, we have already broken up since this conversation started."
Barbara got up and bowed to show him her gratitude. "Thank you, my ex-boyfriend. I'm sure we will be just friends after all of this."
Kenny grinned but noticed something strange, "wait... why is Nicholas saying that to you? He hates riddles more than anything."
While stopping at her track, she answered her 'new' ex-boyfriend. "I don't know but I asked him why Kaedo was calling him a comrade, then the conversations ended with that hint."
"Only that?" he pursued, "There's nothing more?"
"Yes," Barbara responded.
She went to pay for her dessert without looking back and saying goodbye, leaving the confused boy alone with his unfinished lunches. His heart raced up and he couldn't think straight. Suddenly, a light bulb came to his mind. After the realization slapped him, the teenager boy put his head on the table defeatedly.
"You're kidding me,"Kenny hid his red face," Why do I want to see him so badly now?"
