Few days to granny's birthday and I still hadn't found a fiancé, was still jobless and had completely avoided James. The issue with finding my fiancé got bigger because apparently Stacey couldn't still find 'the one' but at this stage I think I'll take literally anyone.

As for my job I was going to get it back eventually, I couldn't have gone on a date with that kid for nothing, but for now I had to focus on getting granny's birthday done.

And then there's James, who I'd avoided like the plague. I couldn't risk being around him if I made googly eyes at him at least not when granny was around. Now, I had no other choice than to see him.

"Attention! Attention! Welcome to the weekly update of Cassie and co. on preparations towards granny's birthday." I called, we were all gathered in the sitting room. After what happened last time I wouldn't dare hold it in my room.

         "Stacey and Kyle, update?"

"Right, we've put together a playlist for the birthday and rented some sound equipments but we..." Stacey stalled.

"But what Stacey? I don't have time for this—" I was interrupted by Jennifer who walked into the sitting room and sat down.

"Excuse me, we are having a serious committee meeting. So please can you leave." I made a shooing motion at her. I mean the audacity she had to walk in and sit down.

"Actually that's what I was trying to tell you, Jen helped us a lot so we decided to let her..." Stacey quickly clamped her mouth shut because of the look I sent her way.

"Oh so now are you trying to tell me that the two of you couldn't complete a single task, you had to request help from someone." I fussed.

"Don't be mad at them, I'll leave if you want me to." The she-devil stood up. Ha! Seriously who was she trying to fool.

"Oh please save all the sad stuff, I'm not stupid. I'm pretty sure you're the one who weaseled your way." She rolled her eyes and took her purse and strutted out of the room, her hair bouncing as she walked away.

"That's enough! At least they had their work done, my partner just keeps avoiding me for no reason whatsoever." James interjected clearly upset over the fact that I'd been avoiding him.

"I'm not avoiding you, I've just been busy." I lied through my teeth. Which wasn't the right thing to do because he got madder.

"Busy doing what?" He asked his brow furrowing in anger and a scrawl on his face. Avoiding you. At that moment Abuela, mom and Margaret walked into the room saving me from answering. Thank God.

"What's going on? What's with all the arguing?" Abuela asked visibly upset over the fact we were making a huge hassle.

"Exactly, why are you all shouting James, Stacey and Kyle?" I asked pinning the entire blame on them.

"We?! You were—" Stacey said trying to call out my bluff but I managed to stop her from going further.

"It's enough. Apologies accepted, now let's get back to business. Abuela, mom and Margaret, update?"

They all sat down, abuela looking calmer as she answered. "Everything is in order, we'll have the cake delivered here by noon and the food preparations are all set."

"Thank goodness some team are really progressing and don't need help from outsiders." I said trying to rattle Kyle, Stacey and James up, even though it was obviously my fault why James and I couldn't get our work done.
