VIOLET'S POV:
I woke up to Sunny shaking me awake. "Breakfast," Sunny said. I got out of my bed and headed downstairs to eat breakfast. There was a plate of golden-brown waffles with maple syrup and strawberries on top, and a piece of bacon beside the waffles, a glass of orange juice was placed next to the plate. Klaus had already finished breakfast and was reading a book on the couch; Mom was washing the dishes. I sat in a chair and ate my breakfast. "I have a case today children, so I won't be back for a while, there's some left-over pasta in the fridge in case you get hungry by any chance," Mom said. "Okay, we'll see you later," I replied. She left the house with Sunny, Klaus, Beatrice and I alone.
Life was peaceful without Count Olaf, but at the same time it was too peaceful, and it wasn't all that great. I terribly missed our friends, the Quagmires, and I'm sure Sunny and Klaus missed them too. We'd lost so many people along the way, and I can't help but feel guilty about it. I went upstairs to my room and thought about life for a quick second, I've never gotten a chance to cry for the past year, I had to put on a brave face for my younger siblings and I still do. I just wish I had someone to talk to, but the only person I do have is myself and myself only, I can't just vent to my siblings and leave the guilt to them. I needed to take some fresh air, a cool break at the beach would be nice. I changed clothes and headed downstairs. "Klaus, Sunny, I'm going to take a walk at the beach, I'll be back soon." Klaus nodded, he was busy reading his book and didn't bother looking up from it. Sunny replied with a little, "okay." I then headed out.
I took a walk to the beach instead of a trolley since I wanted some fresh air to myself. The air had gotten colder as I was closer to the beach, instead of it being hot it was warm maybe even a bit cool. I walked closer to the water and removed my shoes. The water tickled my toes and the wet sand glued onto them. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths, relaxing myself as the cold waves washed up on shore.
Then I heard faint screams of help, I opened my eyes and saw a light in the distance of the ocean. Some people were stranded in the sea! I didn't know what to do until I remembered about my newly created invention the Huge Hydro Rescue. I ran back home, leaving my shoes behind to be washed away into sea. I busted the door open, Klaus jumped up and looked up from his book, startled from my sudden arrival. "What's going on?" He asked as he adjusted his glasses. "I don't have time to explain!" I yelled in reply and ran into my room, I grabbed the Huge Hydro Rescue and ran back to the beach as fast as I could. I placed it close to the water and pressed the on button. It scanned the sea. "Come on, come on," I whispered. The wheel spun back and launched the string with the three life jackets attached to it towards the distance. I waited for a few minutes, scared the people had drowned because the light had disappeared once I had returned. Finally, the suspense had been broken once the machine beeped, I pulled back the wheel and the line started rushing towards me. Once I saw the three people who were secured in the lifejackets a smile spread across my face, Duncan, Isadora, and Quigley Quagmire were the people I had saved.
Sorry this chapter was so short; I promise the next few chapters will be longer!
