With Steve unconscious and Elizabeth nowhere to be found, Layla was left alone in the desert with nothing to defend herself with. She knelt to the ground, vigorously shaking Steven to wake him up. She wondered what could've happened, why he suddenly fell unconscious while the night sky continued spinning. But she saw that Steven was training and she just had assumed that he collapsed due to exhaustion.

On the other hand, Elizabeth disappeared, to where?— she had no idea.

"Steven. Wake up. Come on. Wake the hell up!" Layla called out to him desperately. He was unresponsive and Layla realized that he will probably be like this for a few hours, he was knocked out cold. She walked around to get to his head, slipping her hands under his armpits to haul him off to the car.

A strained groan left her lips as she began dragging his body across the sand. Using all of her strength, she pulled Steven onto the dune when suddenly, a bright light shone upon the both of them. Layla's eyes both widened in apprehension as she saw the car was fast approaching. Their voices filled the air, shouting that they had found them.

Layla wasted no time dragging Steven away as fast as she could. Her heart raced in apprehension as she saw them closing in.

It was no doubt that it was Harrow's men, presumably following them ever since they left the mansion.

Layla cried out in surprise when gunshots filled the air and the sand around her bursts upwards as the bullet hit them. Layla hastily pulled Steven away from the range and the two fell off the dune, rolling down the sand. While Layla was able to keep herself back up, Steven kept going. He was will unconscious despite that.

Her breath hitched as she watched Steven roll down the sand and the car that was tailing the came out from the dune. None of the occupants seemed to have noticed Layla in the darkness as they drove past. Layla quickly noticed that the back of the truck was filled with different bullets and a massive gun.

Layla glanced warily between Harrow's men and her truck, waiting for the right time before she sprinted down the dune. She pressed her back against the doors when she reached her car, panting softly as she peered over the door. The car was turning around, making its way in her direction.

She quietly made her way around the car to get in the back. With one swift movement, she got on inside just as the headlights faced her truck.

Layla feared they might do something to Steven when she heard them talking about him. Quickly, her eyes darted around her truck, searching for something she could use as a weapon when she felt something cold and hard pressing against the side of her arm.

Layla turned with a soft gasp, her eyes fell upon a black pole. It was the object she had Elizabeth carrying around ever since they met in Cairo. She picked it up, thinking it would be a good weapon as she had seen Elizabeth using it in action. She would be lying if she didn't find it amazing.
