Elizabeth felt the world had slowed down. Her eyes were wide in shock her hands flying to cover her open. Her bottom lip shook, and a single tear ran down her cheek as she watched Marc's body floating in the water. Her voice trembled as she called his name, hoping that he would open his eyes. She wanted to go and heal him before it was too late but a hand that rested upon her chest stopped her from doing so. Layla stood in front of her, her eyes were red from crying but they held so much authority that it intimidated her. It didn't last long though, for her case softened and her eyes now held an extreme sense of sadness and worry. Her eyes pleaded Elizabeth to stay.
Elizabeth released a quiet sob, her eyes glancing over at Marc's body. She could do something, she had Horus, and she was willing to put herself at risk just to keep Marc alive. Because if Marc does, Steven would be as well.
She wasn't ready to lose another person important in her life.
Elizabeth was beginning to move when suddenly, she felt unable to move. A soft strained train came out of her lips as she moved her arm but to no extent. It didn't take long for Elizabeth to realize that Horus had taken over her body, stopping her.
After sensing that she was about to do something that would harm her, he took over her body, without her permission. But he had to do it, or something else might have happened. With the two of them stopped her, Elizabeth had no choice but to relent.
Layla moved her against the wall before putting her down on the ground. Elizabeth remained in shock, if only she had done something, if only she had stayed back instead, maybe she could prevent all of this.
She felt so useless, even with Horus at her side.
The sobs that escaped Elizabeth's lips came out loud as she had originally intended, which caught the attention of one of Harrow's henchmen, who stood near their hiring place. Still overwhelmed with so much grief, she didn't notice. Layla quickly acted, she got on the ground and waited by the corner as one of them approached, his eyes searching their place intently. Once standing behind a pillar, where no one could spot him, Layla jumped at him, immediately knocking him out. Unfortunately, the man had let out a loud grunt, which caught the attention of Harrow.
Now's not the time.
"But... He's dying. We could help him, we could—"
Remember what will happen.
Elizabeth's breath hitched, only at that time did she remember that if she was seen by Harrow then the Ennead would be instantly alerted and Horus would be punished for insubordination and be turned to stone. With him and Khonshu, they wouldn't be able to stop Harrow and Ammit.
Worst, she would not be able to save her sister.
Elizabeth calmed her nerves, breathing deeply a couple of times until she could feel her heart beating back to normal. She looked up and met Layla's worried gaze, which transitioned into a relieved one once she had seen Elizabeth was back in her senses.
