I woke up to the smell of pancakes and bacon.

As wolves, we were already born with heightened senses and although I did not have my full enhanced senses yet, since I'd yet to activate my gene, I knew my favorite breakfast when I smelled it. The whole castle probably smelled it.

I quickly got dressed and brushed my teeth. When I looked in the mirror I noticed the dried tears on my face, reminding me how I had bawled my eyes out like a little girl.

I looked away and quickly washed my face. I left my room and when I turned the corner, I bumped into something—or rather someone—because their hands slid around my legs, holding me.

"Dee-dee ," I felt a tug at my dress.
I looked down to see my baby brother, Lauden, looking up at me with his big, beautiful, baby blue doe eyes. My heart melted automatically.

He had just started to walk, and for an eleven month old wolf, that was a bit late. Most baby wolves started walking and talking at seven to nine months. But Mom almost lost him when she was giving birth, luckily she hadn't. Lucryn, his twin, didn't have any problems.

I knew that many would say the opposite, but I didn't think there was anything wrong with Lauden, only that he needed a little more attention and love than the rest of us.

I kneeled down and his little arms went around my neck, making me giggle. "Well, morning mister babyface. Where did you come from?" I asked, picking him up with me. "Where's Mama?" I asked, looking around, not seeing her anywhere.

"Ma-ma," he tested the word on his tongue, tilting his head, and I grinned.

"Yes, say it again? Say 'ma-ma'," I encouraged him, using my baby voice.

"Mama, mama," he echoed, clapping his chubby hands. My grin stretched even more.

"Is he your son?"

I froze. My eyes widened when I looked up to see Alpha Micah, looking quite angry. Why had that question come out as growl?

As if he can understood the Alpha, my baby brother started to chant, "Mama, Mama, Mama," and gave him a wide grin. That seemed to infuriate Alpha Micah more.

I readjusted little Lauden on my hip, avoiding Alpha Micah's eyes that was glaring a whole through me. Why was he so angry?

"H-He's my baby brother," I told him softly.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him relax drastically. Why was he so relieved? Would it have been that bad if he had been my son?

At that moment, I willed myself to look at him, not directly in his eyes though, and noticed him stiffen again. "How come I don't know of this? If he was your brother, why doesn't anyone know about him?" he demanded, stepping closer.

I subconsciously took a step back in return. "Mum and Dad wanted to keep quiet about them until their first birthday before presenting them to the packs," I explained briefly.

It was true. Mum had kept her pregnancy hidden. After Matthias was born, the doctor had told Mum that she wouldn't be able to conceive any more pups because of the damage in her womb or something. It had been a massive shock to everyone when she got pregnant, and with twins nevertheless.

So Mum had decided not to let the packs know until after the birth, in case she were to miscarry. And with the difficulties Lauden had been facing, being slower than the average pup, Dad and she had thought it best to introduce the twins to the packs when they were a bit older.

"Them?"

"He's a twin," I informed him quietly, looking down.

Why was he still here anyway? Didn't they leave after the meeting with my father?
