"I did not throw myself at you," I countered, feeling flustered.

He chuckled, "Baby, you practically lunged yourself at me," he teased and I playfully glared at him.

"Someone pushed me and I tripped! And- and you didn't seem to mind me falling into your arms, literally," I said, blushing a little.

"I didn't mind at all," he responded smoothly, leaning back in his chair. "I love having you in my arms."

I love you.

I looked away from his penetrating gaze and cleared my throat. "I'm full, we can go if you're ready," I told him softly.

Taylan laughed, causing a few glances our way in the fancy restaurant. "Yeah, okay, changing the subject I see. I'll let it slide. For now," he added that last part with a wink.

Even after a year, he still caused butterflies in my belly. And I still found him just as handsome as I did when I first laid my eyes on him. His blue-green eyes still made me feel like I was the only person he saw whenever he looked at me.

Suddenly, I felt warm hands taking mine, nudging me out of my thoughts.

"What are you thinking about?"

I shook my head, smiling. "Just you."

His brows raised and he leaned in, "What about me? How amazing and incredibly hot I am?" he asked smugly.

I rolled my eyes at him, "You are so vain."

"You love me," he retorted, making my heartbeat increase tenfold. I removed my hand from his and grabbed my glass of water, finishing the half empty glass.

It should've been easy. To tell him that I indeed did love him. Especially when I knew that he loved me too. For any other girl it would've been.

But I'm not just any other girl.

I knew that at some point I would have to go home. Without him. I was a wolf. Well, part wolf. And he was human. He could never be in my future. I knew that. But, I was being selfish.

I was so, so selfish. I suppose that when you love someone, you feel entitled to be selfish with them. You simply can't help it. At least, I couldn't.

He made me feel wanted and. . . special. I'd been told all my life that I was unique and I never believed it, but he made me feel it.

"I want to see the stars tonight," I told him when we exited the restaurant.

The night sky had been particularly inviting that night. I loved it because I was so connected to nature in general. I was a witch and it felt like they were calling my name, inviting me to stay.

Taylan knew what I meant. We drove to his house in comfortable silence. His hand was on my thigh and he would occasionally take his eyes off the road to look at me, each time flashing me his smile.

When we parked in the driveway and got out, he took my hand in his and led me to the house. I'd been there hundreds of times and that was the only time I felt a weird kind of excitement coated with a little nerves.
