Anything Hermione Granger is mildly interesting for him. At least that's what Draco Malfoy would have himself believe. It's just mildly interesting.
Of course, he will not admit to the fact that she makes him ponder for hours about her. About how anyone can best him. And how easily she does it. No sir. He will not admit to having those thoughts about Granger.
No one will know how much he talked about her at home since 2nd year. And how well aware he is about the truth that his father was wasting his free time to hear his stories about his academic adversary, but he'll tell the story anyway. No ma'am. He won't admit to those crimes.
Granger does not occupy his thoughts 24/7. There's no need for anyone to make a big deal out of it. In fact, he isn't thinking about her now. He just happens to be aware that she just took her seat next to Luna Lovegood at the Ravenclaw table where he can see her.
And no, he wasn't staring. Certainly it wasn't the reason why Lovegood just batted her eyes in his direction. A reason for Granger to follow her seatmate's gaze, and stop at exactly where he sat.
Shite!
Draco decided to not avert his gaze. Instead, he lazily picked his spoon up with a sigh and swirled it on his bowl of cereal. He will pretend to be just staring blankly and they will be none the wiser.
It didn't escape him how the two young ladies exchanged glances, probably considering the very idea he wanted them to have. Ha! Sorry but you won't get the better of Draco Malfoy.

"Hermione Granger, asking me to help her with her studies?" Luna said finally getting back to the matter at hand. "What? Everyone in Ravenclaw's a genius." Hermione responded.
Luna eyed her seatmate at that. The latter had to avoid it and let her eyes land on the blonde git who is now seemingly in deep conversation with Nott. Damn if he didn't have that perfectly chiseled face! She can only see the left side of it but curse it if she didn't try to trace its outline in her mind.
No. Of course he still isn't her type. Not in a millon years. He just happened to be in her view.
Also, the very reason why she sat next to Luna today is because she can't find the courage to sit with the Gryffindors if Ron was there. She wasn't really sure if she heard right when he told her he's breaking up with her. So no, she doesn't have the time to be fancying some arrogant prick in time of crisis.
She wasn't really sure if she felt like she was slapped hard on the face or somebody splashed her with ice cold water. Either way, Ronald Weasley had the gall to breakup with her. How in the world did that happen?
Sure she wasn't the type to cook or clean after her boyfriend as a way to express her love for him. But that's what Molly Weasley is there for. She can be the mom. Cause she is.
Maybe she nags him to study most of the time. That wasn't exactly for her was it? It was for him. Especially if he's all angry at Malfoy for being arrogant about almost everything. That included studies. And Ron well, he ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. It's amazing how she can reference Smashmouth at a time like this.
"Are you even listening?" That was Luna.
"Yeah. Yeah. D'you suppose we can change venue?" Hermione asked. "You mean the library?" Luna asked back.
Luna Lovegood would never tell anyone how she noticed Granger staring at Malfoy. No. At least not until she's asked.
Hermione can tell Luna noticed something. But of course she will not be the one to reveal stuff that wasn't even asked of her. She'll just have to bury the fact that she was staring at Malfoy to the grave.

Pansy Parkinson is really something else. With a sigh, Draco left the group chat his bestfriend created. He's not really into that stuff.
But of course Theo would busy himself with adding him back. And so he'll just have to wait for something gossipy and respond in the name of friendship. This better be not a waste of his time.
And it wasn't. Anything about Hermione Granger is mildly interesting for him. At least that's what he'd like himself to believe.
He'd be damned if he didn't find it amusing to learn Weasley proved to be stupid. Breaking up with Granger. Really? Has he got pea for a brain?
Sure, Granger isn't exactly pretty -- eugh -- but Weasley is in no position to initiate a break up. At least Granger had a beautiful mind if not a face. That's not at all bad for an investment. At least he'll be sure his offspring will be intelligent.
O-kay. That's off. It's weird to think of children when they themselves are children still. Nonetheless, his opinion would still be correct. Granger is not a bad investment.
But what's that with taking care of her? Draco had to blink his eyes twice at Potter's message -- yes, Lovegood added him -- before he was able to respond. Imagine him sharing GC with Potter.
Potter, to take care of Granger? And what's that? As Weasley's parting request? "Is this a joke?"
And so, without much thought, for the first time in his life, Draco Malfoy acted recklessly. He already sent his thoughts before he realized what he did. But, no one will judge him for stating a fact, right? It is true that Granger needs no taking care of. And it is true that Granger is not in the chat to know he has a high regard of her by believeing she can take care of herself.

Oh for the love of Salazar!
-------------
Dmalfoy: If it's not any good Pans, I swear to Merlin, I will ignore you for a long time.
Pparkinson: Is that a threat Draco?
Dmalfoy: No. It's a fact.
Pparkinson : Oh, come on D. You know you want to check it.
------------
Rolling his eyes, Draco dared to check his feed for any new post from Granger. Pansy said Granger posted something really good. He didn't need to scroll actually. Her face was the first thing she saw. And damn!
There goes the second reckless act he did in his entire life. There's just that one word to describe how he felt seeing her in her new hairstyle. Just that one reaction. And he won't know, that in the coming months, acting reckless might just be the best thing he's ever done in his life.

Hermione Granger had to blink her eyes at what she saw, "He gave me a wow!?"
