She glanced around and saw Steve and Nancy still dancing away, but decided to let them enjoy their night and made her way out the front door.

"Kimmy?" Jonathan asked from his spot leaning against the stairs.

The girl he was talking with wandered away.

Kimberly chuckled, "I can't believe you actually came!"

"I know, but even more surprising I can't believe you actually came also!"

"Halloween miracle." They both laughed.

"Not trick or treating with the boys?"

"Ah no, Will felt like he was too old to not be able to go out on his own with his friends."

"Does your mom know?"

"No and let's keep it that way," Jonathan laughed.

"My lips are sealed."

"Thanks Kimmy."

She just hummed in response, and heard a loud spill and several "ooohs!" Her head snapped towards the kitchen where she saw Nancy with red punched spilled all over her and Steve was trying to clean it up.

Kimberly started to walk in their direction, "Should-"

"Maybe don't," Jonathan grabbed her arm gently stopping her. "They looked on the edge of an argument. You don't want to get in the middle of that."

"But I could-"

"Kimmy, no."

"But-"

"Kimmy. No."

"Fine, I will wait until they come out."

"Good."

Kimberly turned and watched the restroom door.

"Kimmy, seriously you don't need to take care of everyone you know that right?"

"If I don't who will?"

Jonathan didn't have an answer for her. "That's beside the point, you don't have to be such..."

She turned to him, "Such what? Such a buzzkill? Such a worrywart? Such a stick in the mud? Such a what Jonathan?"

"Such a helpful friend?"

"Nice save there Johnnyboy. You have such a way with words."

"Sorry. I didn't mean it like that."

"I know you didn't," she sighed. "I just- worry."

"I get that but maybe you don't have to worry so much that you don't get to work on your own problems because you are too busy fixing other peoples."

"What problems? I don't have any problems."

"Oh yeah? When was the last time you went into the woods? Your literal favorite place and you haven't stepped foot in there in almost a year."

"You know what Jonathan-"

She didn't get to finish her sentence because Steve rushed past her, not followed by Nancy.

"I'll get Nancy," Jonathan said.

"And I'll get Steve."

They went their separate ways. Kimberly quickly followed after her friend, hoping she would be able to get to him in time.
