Ink's POV
I stood in front of the head-to-toe mirror in mine and Error's room, swapping between two different shirts for the date tonight. We've been dating for about five years now and lately it's been a rare occurrence where both of us were off work on the same day, so we wanted to make the most of it. One shirt was a white long sleeve button up, the top being a little more open in the chest, while the other was a nice light blue, elbow length sleeve, sweater. I sighed as I hung the shirts on the handles of the nearby dresser, hugging myself as I stared in the mirror. I wanted to look nice for our date, but I was so afraid of my skin showing. I've always been self-conscious of the tons of dark birthmarks dawning my torso and arms.
I hear the door open before seeing Error walk behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and planting a gentle kiss on the back of my neck. I smiled, holding his hands with my own as I leaned into his embrace. "What's gotten you so stressed, Inky?" he asked. My smile faded and my hands clutched his tighter. "I'm...I'm struggling to find out what to wear tonight. I don't want the other people wherever we're going to see my birthmarks. It's bad enough I have this large one on my face that people stare at anyways," I responded truthfully.
Error spun me around, eyeing me down with an intense gaze. "Ink, I love you, and I don't want you to think about anybody seeing your beautiful marks," he said before one of his hands lifted my shirt slightly, his thumb tracing my skin, "to me, you couldn't be more perfect." I shivered under his touch, my body and mind melting as he stared lovingly at the small bit of skin showing. It wasn't until he finally let go that I finally was able to compose myself. He gave me a quick kiss before grabbing the clothes he picked for tonight and went to the bathroom to take a shower. While he took a shower, I changed into black, skinny jeans and decided on the white button up. I tucked my shirt into my jeans and buttoned my sleeves before putting on a nice pair of black shoes and cologne.
As I was combing my hair, I heard the bathroom door open and Error walk into our room to see if I was done. I sat down the comb and walked over to Error, his hands landing on my hips as I began smoothing down the collar of his shirt. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a dark blue button up tucked into his jeans, and a sleek black tie. Stars, I'm lucky to have found this man. "Are you ready to go out?" he asked, removing his hands from my waist, instead he held my hand as I nodded my response.
Our hands intertwined as we walked to our first destination. We planned for a lovely dinner and the rest Error said was a surprise. We walked in calm silence, only for it to be broken when we got to the restaurant. The waitress at the front asked for our reservation when I saw her eyes glide from my birthmark on my cheek to my marks on my chest. I averted my gaze, fidgeting with the opening of my shirt, trying to hide my chest a bit more. Error must have noticed because as soon as I started messing with it, his hand squeezed mine in comfort. The same waitress escorted us to our table, the table covered with a beautiful red tablecloth and a candlelight being the only light.
Error proceeded to pull out my chair for me, pushing it in once I sat down. As we looked through our menus, our waitress brought us a bottle of wine, pouring it into our glasses. Once the waitress left, Error reached across the table to grab my hand. "Ink, I know you're afraid of people seeing your marks, but right now it is about us, not what others think, so try not to worry. If you do start to worry, remember I'm here." he said, giving me a comforting smile. I sighed, giving him a smile in return. The rest of our dinner was spent with loving glances and playful jokes until we paid the bill and left.
