(POV:Reader)

-"Let's get cleaned up"

-"Stroll down those stairs"

-"We'll march through the doors and-" Quasi sang but was soon stopped.

-"Good morning, Quasimodo" Quasi's confidence and enthusiasm for the festival died down when father walked in.

-"Oh, g-good morning m-master" he shrunk himself down, his stuttering habit came back as father stood in front of him.

-"Dear boy, what are you talking about?"

-"We're talking about cleaning the bell's today" I walked over to them.

-"You young lady, will do no such thing" I huffed at father's response, sitting on the wooden stool by the table.

-"Now, lunch?" Quasi ran to the other side to get the dishes and cups, while I helped father take the lunch items out of the basket.

-"Shall we review your alphabet today?" I despised this alphabet, it was so mean, but I couldn't do anything about it, except teach Quasi a different version. We'd spent hours filling up the alphabet, coming up with different words, we'd stop once either one of us couldn't think of a word to say or we ran out of letters.

-"Oh, yes master, I would like that very much" Father nodded, satisfied with Quasi's response.

-"Very well, A?"

-"Abomination"

-"B?"

-"Blasphemy"

-"C?"

-"C-contrition"

-"D?"

-"Damnation"

-"E?"

-"Eternal damnation" Quasi smiled a bit as he got the words right, surprising father a bit as he drank wine.

-"Good...F?"

-"Festival" father spit out his wine, and Quasi hurried to correct himself.

-"F-forgiveness!"

-"You said 'Festival'"

-"No!"

-"You are thinking about going to the festival" father slammed the goblet down and stood up.

-"But you go every year, why can't we go?" I stood up, walking over to him.

-"I am a public official, I must go,"

-"But I don't enjoy a moment, thieves and cutpurses, the dregs of humankind"

-"All mixed in a shallow, drunken stupor" Quasi and I followed after him as he walked down the stairs.

-"I didn't mean to upset you master" I turned to Quasi, giving him a look of 'It's not your fault', but he turned away from me.

-"It was my idea to leave, not his" Father glared at me, letting me know that I had to be quiet.
