It was the end of the school day as I made my way to the front courtyard of the school where Huening and the hyungs were waiting.

I was walking down the hallway with a single airpod in my right ear.

Since there was nothing in my left ear, the whispers and murmurs of other students didn't go unnoticed by my senses.

Curiously, I slow my pace so I could eavesdrop on what the students are saying without seeming too suspicious.

"Did you hear that Kang Taehyun is back?"

"I can't believe he had the audacity to show up out of the blue after leaving Beomie Oppa depressed and broken."

"It's a shame really. They were the school's IT couple until Taehyun left like he never even loved Beomgyu Oppa."

"He didn't deserve Beomie Oppa anyways."

I heard all of this, wondering if this was something talked about all throughout the school. A lot of the students from our old high school came to this college, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I ended up in the front courtyard of the school later than planned but sooner than I thought.

"Did you hear the gossips going around the school Beom?" Soobin hyung asked almost as soon as I was within 3 feet of them.

"Oh yeah, those students are shitting on poor Taehyunnie," Huening says in reaction to Soobin hyung's question.

"Yeah, I heard. I kinda feel bad," I said, thinking of what I heard those girls talking about.

If I'm being completely honest, I feel like it's my fault that people are reacting this badly. I had a lot of obsessive admirers that felt as if I was too good for Taehyun. I started to feel an increasing weight of guilt on my shoulders.

"Same here. He might've broken our hearts but I still care about him and miss him sometimes," Yeonjun hyung says.

The group fell silent for a moment, presumably reminiscing the times before Taehyun had left us.

"Hey, how about we head down to that ice cream shop?" I say, trying my best to lift the mood.

"As long as you're paying," Huening replies.

I just roll my eyes, knowing that even if I did disagree, I'd still be the one paying in the end.

And so with that, we hopped in Yeonjun hyung's car and made our way down the streets of Seoul on the way to get some ice cream.

The way there was anything but quiet. We were all talking about random nothings, trying to free our minds from the thoughts of Taehyun. If we were trying to have a good time, we needn't be thinking of him.

We turn a corner, getting closer to the ice cream shop. Yeonjun hyung holds the door for all of us as we walk in.

The shop was fairly small and cozy, with a pastel-colored palette. The place reminded me of a diner from the 1950s, except a tad more modernized, and a bit smaller.

I go to order while the others find a seat somewhere, already knowing what they want. Watching the person scoop up the ice cream seems oddly satisfying to me. The way the ice cream rolls into the perfect round ball with the aid of the scooper. It only makes me even hungrier for the cold treat.

I thank the worker as I grab the ice creams from them and then make my way to the table that the others are sitting at.

I give the others their ice cream as I sit down. However, when I give Yeonjun hyung his ice cream it seems he has a complaint despite me getting his favorite flavor.
