Clary's POV
That night, all I could think about was him. Jace was running through my mind like a mad man. It was driving me crazy. The sad part is, I feel like some of me is okay with it. For once an attractive guy is giving me attention. But then my conscious kicks in and reminds me that he knew where I sat. Always. That word in that text stuck out to me. Funny how one word could change everything. He knew I always sat there so that must mean he's been watching me for a while. Totally not creepy (note the sarcasm).
Even my dreams were filled with him. His golden hair, his muscular but lanky body, and those eye. His almost golden eyes. I dreamed about him and I, and we were a couple. A COUPLE. The fact my brain is even producing this should baffle me, but it really doesn't. Again, apart of me is ignoring that it seems like he's stalking me. But, I'm not the type of person that's quick to judge. Maybe he has a reason. I guess I'll have to talk to him to find out.

Here we are again. Hell. I would say I mean school, but it's basically the same thing. I pray today I don't run into Hailey. I've had enough of her for a life time. Luckily, I find my group of friends. Which you don't know because I failed to mention who they are. My group of friends consists of Quinton, Maddie, Patrick, and Diana. I've known Diana and Maddie for as long as I can remember, but Patrick and Quinton are the new additions to our group. We only met them this school year, but they weren't douche bags like 80% of the guys so we decided to let them into our friend circle.
Maddie is the sweetest thing ever. She always has good advice, and is never mean. She could never be mean, nor hurt anyone. Not even a fly. She doesn't really like drama, which I love about her. She is girly, but not too girly. Who doesn't love that. Then there is Patrick. He is...interesting to say the least. He's a big gamer and really loves computers. He's weird, but in the best way possible. Patrick is a great friend when you need him, and he has an amazing sense of humor. Then there is Diana. She has an amazing sense of humor. I always find myself laughing and smiling around her. She doesn't take shit from anyone. I wish I was more like her in that aspect. Finally we have Quinton. He is the sweetest person ever. He's just really nice, and is a good shoulder to lean/cry on. I think he might have a crush on me, but I have no idea so. He's a bit awkward, but I am too so we became as thick as thieves quickly.
So when Hailey decided to pay us a visit in the hallway today, I knew this wasn't going to end well.
"Well if it isn't the geek squad," she said with that bitchy smirk that always seemed to be on her lips.
"Well if it isn't Bitch #1, #2, and #3," Diana said, referring to Hailey and the 2 girls behind her. "What do you want anyways? We have better things to do than talk to you," Diana continued. I forgot to mention that she is the sass master. She has the best comebacks.
"Just your daily reminder that you will never be like us. You will never amount to anything like we will," Hailey respond, a proud look on her face.
"First of all, have you ever thought about the fact that we don't want to be like you? We don't want to be bitches. The only thing you'll amount to is being a bitch. We actually have real goals," Diana said. A bunch of comments from people listening were heard. Anything from, "OHHHHH!!" to "Would you like some ice for that burn!?", and so on.
Hailey just scoffed, flipped her hair, and walked away. Typical. She was all talk but she was harmless. Too scared of breaking a nail, or some stupid shit like that.
After we all talked about what happened, and congratulated Diana, my group of friends dispersed to go to class. After getting all of my stuff from my locker and shutting my locker, I started walking to my first period class.

It's study hall. The time of day I've been looking forward to the most and the least. That was the time Jace wanted me to meet him. So, I made my way to the table I always sat at. Ever since that text, I don't think I'll be able to think of that word the same. I placed my stuff down, and waited for Jace to get there. After like 30 seconds it seemed, Jace was walking to me. Here goes nothing.
"Hey," he said with a soft smile. He looked so good today. He wore black jeans, converse, a white shirt that showed his tattoos on his chest, and a leather jacket. Why must he looks so attractive? Dammit.
"Hey Jace. How're you today?" I asked to him shyly. Curse my shyness around guys.
"I'm okay," he said. He was about to continue speaking but I beat him to it before he could say anything.
"Why did you want to see me today? How did you get my number? Are you stalking me? Are you obsessed-" I said, rambling but he cut me off before I could speak.
"I wanted to see you because I wanted to talk to you today. I got your number from one of your friends, her name was Maddie or something like that. I am not stalking you. I always come here during study hall and I happen to see you at the same table," he explained. I could tell by his clenched jaw that he was fighting the urge to yell, or get angry.
I didn't really know what to say. The fact that he "just so happens" to be here the exact same time as me seems a little fishy. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but it's just what it seems like.
"All right. I apologize for rambling like that and accusing you of stalking me. It's just what it seemed like to me and I'm sorry. By the way, my name is Clary," I said with a small smile. I was still a bit on the fence about the whole stalking thing, but he seems like a nice person. So why not get to know him, right?
"I already know your name. I didn't need to ask you or your friends for it," he said with a light chuckle.
HOLD ON.
"How do you know my name? If my friends didn't give you it, then who did?" I asked, starting to get a little freaked out.
"I don't like to brag about it," Jace said with a serious face, "but I just know things. Ever since I was little. Some people say it's a gift but I think it's a burden-"
"Shut up, I'm serious!" I exclaimed. "Have we met before or something? Because if we did, I don't remember," I said."Clary you're so stupid! You don't remember me?! We were best friends when we were in preschool, kindergarten, and elementary! We did everything together! But now you look at me like some stranger!" He yelled, hurt clear in his voice.
He walked away from the table, and then it hit me. I do remember him. It was Jace Wayland. My childhood best friend.
What.
The.
Actual.
Fuck.

An update finally! I'm so sorry for not updating but I hope this chapter makes up for it. This is the longest one I've written so far. Hope you like it! I might update again later today, but I'm not quite sure yet. Vote and comment please. It's not that hard. I spend a lot of time writing and I would love the support and feed back.
Much love,
Emma
