The moment Mav got back to the hangar on the chopper I walked up to him and hit him on his shoulder.

"Hey, what was that for", He exclaimed, grabbing his shoulder I just hit.

"I told you I would hit you if you exploded and you did, so I did", I replied with a raised eyebrow.

He just smiled and shook his head at me as we made our way to the Admirals office who wanted to see me as well for whatever reason.

Walking into his office it was obvious that he was pissed so we both stood at attention in front of his desk and waited until he started to speak and when he did, he was going off at Mav and I started feeling very awkward standing there listening to him reprimand my friend, now wondering why he wanted me to be here as well.

As he turned to face me, I started feeling nervous.

"Now, Captain Theseus I dont know why you are here but you are and I am pissed off that you didnt do more to stop it from happening as other than Captain Mitchell you were the highest-ranking member on base and could have pulled rank in the control room and shut it down before he took off", He said.

I didnt bother trying to explain myself knowing it wouldnt help the situation so I just stayed silent.

"As such Im going to be punishing the both of you", He added after a moment of silence.

As Mav went to say something, no doubt trying to get me off the hook but I just nudged him and shook my head, not wanting him to say something that will piss off the Admiral even more, making him give a worse punishment.

"I want you both to pack your bags and head to Miramar", He demanded.

"Miramar, Sir?", Pete asked in confusion.

"Yes, I was ready to ground your ass indefinitely Captain Mitchell but a call came in with impeccable timing and seeing as I wanted to punish Captain Theseus in some way, I requested for her to be sent as well, so you have both been called back to Top Gun", He said, sounding annoyed that Mav wasnt getting a worse punishment.

After nodding respectfully, we both left his office and as soon as the door was closed and we were down the hallway a bit I turned to Mav and hit his chest a few times in frustration.

"I was supposed to be holidaying in Miramar for the next 8 weeks, not working", I said in frustration.

"Im so sorry GG, I didnt mean to get you in trouble", He said apologetically.

I just shook my head in frustration and walked to my car to start my drive to Miramar as my bags were already packed as I was on my way there before Mav called.

I wasnt mad at Mav, just frustrated with the situation and the fact that I would now have to work while with Bradley.

I started the drive to Miramar, listening to music with the top of my car down and my hair blowing in the wind. Mav had passed me at some point on his bike, obviously eager to know why he was called back whereas I was trying to delay the inevitable.

After what felt like forever, I finally made it to the Top Gun base and went in to speak with the Admirals, I knocked on the meeting room door and waited for them to call me in.

I walked into the room and stood at attention in front of the large table.

"You have been called back to Top Gun alongside Captain Mitchell to teach a mission course to a group of students, however, while Captain Mitchell will not be flying the mission, you will, we have set up what will need to be done to complete this mission alongside Captain Mitchell, so if you look to the board behind you, that is your mission course", Admiral Bates explained.

Turning to look at the course I let out a shocked breath.

"The mission is to get rid of a storage container in enemy territory that is going against NATO to store uranium, there are SAMS all along to top of the mountain range making it so that you have to do a low altitude attack, the real issue comes when you come up to this mountain", Admiral Simpson explained before pressing a button making the mountain come up on the screen.

"Here you will need to make a sudden climb as close to the mountain as possible and then a sudden drop when you get to the top so that you can get as close to the storage unit as possible before dropping missiles, then you will have to do another sudden pull up along this edge of the mountain, when you get to the peak the SAMS will have a lock on you so you will have to dodge all of them on your way out", Admiral Simpson the pressed another button showing an airstrip, "There is also a nearby base with 5th generation fighter jets among other aircraft that will be on your tail the second you blow the unit and you will be completing all of this in an F18", After Admiral Simpson finished explain I slowly turned back around to face him.

Before I could ask any questions or say anything Admiral Bates added, "You will be completing this mission alongside 2 pairs of aircraft, you will be flying in a solo jet without a wingman at the front, your job will be to fly slightly ahead of the pairs and let them know if there are any discrepancies with the course from the information we have".

"Is this mission even possible without all of us dying", I asked, shocked with how dangerous the mission is.

"That all depends on how well yourself and Captain Mitchell teach the group of pilots", Admiral Simpson said without and emotion.

After I left the meeting room I just stood in the hallway for a minute in shock, I saw Mav approaching me from the side but I quickly turned away from him and left the base and made my way home.

Once getting home I called Bradley to let him know I would be working while here and he had no problem with that as he would be working as well, I also asked if we could just catch up the next day, saying I was going to bed early anyway as I had a long day with my new work assignment but really, I just needed some time to process the suicide mission I was just given.

He had no problem with that as he was catching up with some work friends at the Hard Deck that he hadnt seen in a while.

After stress eating and downing a bottle of wine to unwind I had a quick shower and went to bed, not realising until just before I fall asleep that I never asked who the students were that they called back.
