"This is Throne room. That glass case over there, where lies my crowns." We walked up to my enclosed crown and the royal guards stepped away. "There's 2 crowns. One, when I become a married woman and ruler is the gold one. And the other, is because I'm a princess. I remain a princess until my parents's time has come to an end. I use my crown for social events."

"The other glass case is for the royal family prince

"The other glass case is for the royal family prince. But there isn't one. So it will stay close until one is born or I marry."

"Don't want to be rude invading your personal life, your highness, but you don't have anyone at the moment in line for your hand?" Loid asked.

"Nope. To be honest Loid, I'm not interested for a lover. I just want to normal and explore. See new things and be free from the duties of royalty. I have no interest in being the future Queen of Roseina. But since I'm the only child. I have no choice." I sighed as I stared at my reflection on the glass case, that enclosed my 2 crowns. "And that concludes, the palace tour," I smiled towards Loid who wanders off into his thoughts again. "Anymore questions about the palace or my role here?"

Literally. This man asked about every single route and secret passageways to think of an emergency route if something were to happen to me. Damn you father. You had to take this route.

"I believe thats all for now, your highness." He bowed and I curtsy.

"Well then... why not join me for lu-" I heard rapid footsteps coming towards me and I turn around to see my angry maid. I go pale.

"WHERE WERE YOU MISSY?! I WAS WORRIED SICK!! YOU'RE GONNA GIVE ME A HEART ATRACK SOMEDAY!!" My maid, Ayame, a 50 year old maid who has been born and raised in the palace. Her mother passed away a few months ago. I'm almost like a daughter to her. Always looking out for me and lecturing me.

I crouch down as I start to sulk on the side. "I'm sorry, Maid Ayame."

"NO PRINCESS SHOULD BE SULKING YOU MISCHIEVOUS CHILD!!" She yells again but then stops. I looked up and she was staring at Loid. She bows and lowers her voice. "My apologies, Mister Twilight, for being disrespectful in front of you. And apologies if this child has 'caused you trouble."

"IM 25!!" I snapped. "25!!"

She sighs and she held her hands together. "Mister Twilight, can I count on you for taking care of Princess Y/n? She is like a daughter to me. Seeing her grow up into the woman she is now-" she cuts herself off as she tried to held back a sob. I soften my expression as I felt my heart ached and I stood up. "I can't stand for the idea of her getting hurt. If it means taking my life to protect her for the future of our kingdom, I would do it."

"Ayame..." I whispered and a tear slid down my cheek. "You old hag..." I wiped my tear that threatened to fall. "You're not going to die. I, Princess Y/n, order you to never sacrifice. Live life to the fullest. I put my full trust in Mister Twilight." I looked towards Loid and I smiled.

"I promise to not fail you, your highness." He bows.

"Oh! Princess, don't forget your swimming, Princess etiquette, self defense training and french class." Maid Ayame reminded me. I sighed. "And Mister Twilight-" she turned her gaze towards him. "Your room is ready. Yours is next to Princess Y/n, to have easier access to reach her if she's in trouble."

"Thank you for the hospitality. I appreciate it." He flashed a genuine smile this time.

My heart ached again as I saw how gentle his smile was. Was it my interaction with maid? Or because it made his job easier?

After a long day of my royal duties and schedule, I returned to my room and flopped onto my bed. I groaned and I stared at my bookshelf. My books are just filled with pure adventure, romantic and impossible love. Awakening a lonely distant lover who thinks they aren't worthy of love.

My thoughts goes back to Loid's lonely eyes this morning, which I thought as an illusion. Which could be. But my guts tells me otherwise that its not.

I sat up, shaking that thought of my head and took off my shoes. I tied my hair up and started to get ready for bed.
