He slowly turned the key in the lock, unlocking the front door. He turned the doorknob holding his breath, begging fate to not let her be in the door entrance. He slid his body through the crack of the door being careful to not make a sound. He scanned the area to see if there was any sign of her, then let out a huff when he saw the coast was clear.
He knew he still had to work fast. He put his briefcase at the side of the staircase then ran his fingers through his wet hair hoping the rain hadn't made his hair look like a wet mop. He took a look at the lavender peonies mixed with the white roses hoping they weren't completely destroyed from all the commotion, and grinned to himself when he saw they were in perfect condition.
He walked forward silently, making sure the heel of his shoes weren't making too loud of a sound against the marble. He craned his neck trying to hear any sound of her and just then, as if on cue, he heard a loud crash against the ground.
"Mother fuck!" he heard her screech.
Bingo he thought. He smiled at the colorful language that always made his day. He made his way through the halls slowing down as he reached the kitchen. He peaked behind the wall that separated the vast room from the kitchen and saw that she was crouched down on the ground cleaning red sauce from the floor.
Her derrière was high in the air and facing him. It was like an open invitation that was so distracting. He shook his head snapping himself out of his daze. He crept towards her from behind and when he was standing directly over her, he softly set the flowers on the table and slowly bent down to her level. He leaned to the side to check if she was still cleaning the sauce. She was scooping the sauce into a pile focused at the mess in front of her. Oblivious as always he thought. He brought his hands to her waist without touching them. He waited for her to finish clean up. She began to stand when Ezra began the torture. He tickled her sides mercilessly.
She shrieked, her body tensing under him. She immediately started thrashing her arms and legs all over the place. He turned her body so it was facing her grinning. She began to breathe out when she saw it was Ezra. He continued the tickling and Lola began to laugh hard, tears spilling at the corner of her eyes. She was laughing and crying all at once which made Ezra laugh just as hard. He had her straddled beneath his two legs, not giving her any chance to escape.
"P-p-please, stop-p!" she begged through her laughing.
He stopped the torture and brought one hand to her mouth covering her laugh and leaned until his lips were right next to her ears then whispered, "Happy anniversary my love." He began to plant feather light kisses from her ear down to her jawbone, in other words her sweet spot, and lingered there slowly sucking. He looked up at her face smiling and saw her soft brown eyes softly flutter. Her breathing against his hand slowing down and heart rate against his chest coming to a regular pace. He felt her grin underneath his hand, her eyes dancing with joy. He laughed softly removing his hand and his arms on either side of her head supporting his weight over her.
She craned her neck and softly kissed his lips whispering, "Thank you darling. But I am so getting back at you for, one," her hands slid down his chest moving dangerously low, "Giving me a heart attack, two," her hands played with his waist buckle, "Tickling me so much I couldn't breathe, and three," her hands moved to his bum and she softly squeezed causing Ezra to let out a shaky breath, "Ruining my surprise plans."
"Oh, my dear, if this is your way of revenge, by all means, let's start now!" He leaned down and kissed her. She turned her face away laughing and tried to push against his chest.
"Get up fatty!" He groaned and stood up extending his hand to help her. He pulled her up effortlessly but pretended to hold his back in pain.
"You call me the fatty?" He continued to rub his back and hissed in fake pain. She squinted her eyes and punched him in the stomach.
