Although Snezhnaya had its armies and factories, there was no shortage of beautiful sites in the nation. Every time the sun set, the snow would take on an orange hue as the sky turned to a soft red. The shroud of orange fell onto the trees, and the sun's rays lit up the noses of those who dared to brave the cold during sunset. It was the one time in Snezhnaya in which every citizen felt completely and utterly secure.
"Ow!"
...Somewhat.
"Shh!" Childe, Kaeya, and Michael collectively hushed the girl. Elizabeth made a poker face, throwing the stick she tripped on at her brother. As Michael glared at her, Childe tiptoed to a tree and pressed his back against it. He surveyed the guards of Zapolyarny from afar while Michael peered over his shoulder.
"I mapped out a route for us when I was here earlier, but seeing as we're on a shortage of time..." Childe grabbed his delusion, pulling down his red mask, "I suppose this will do."
A spark of electricity ran through him, pushing the teen backwards into Kaeya. The two men grimaced while Childe leaped through the trees, expecting them to follow him. Elizabeth ran on his tail while Michael scrambled to catch up. Eventually, Childe stopped when he landed behind the first two Zapolyarny guards.
"Greetings," he smirked as they turned around.
"You can't be here!" one yelled, pointing his sword at him, "This is a private government property!"
"I knew you were here causing trouble, Tartaglia!" the other followed suit.
He chuckled, "Oh, no, no, you mistaken me. I'm here to stop trouble. Fortunately, to do that, I have to start some first. Sorry, it isn't personal."
The second guard growled, "Get him!"
With the fight ensued, Childe slashed the men with his twin blades, knocking them down within a second. Elizabeth stood behind him, shooting the men that came for Childe's back with her electric orbs.
When Childe turned around, he smiled, "Thanks, Lizzie."
"No problem!" she grinned innocently, despite shocking the men at the same time.
Meanwhile, Michael and Kaeya took out the guards up ahead. When Kaeya gave the men a quick slash of Cryo, Michael would follow with a strike of Pyro. On their behalf, they took down four guards, two coming at them from each side.
"You're not getting away with this!" another guard shouted. Behind him, five men followed, the entrance to the caves just behind them.
From the corner of his eye, Kaeya could see Childe readying his elemental burst. Relaxed, he rested a hand on his hip, "Actually, I think we already have."
The guards looked confused for a moment, but soon, Childe swooped in with a twist of Hydro and Electro combined. His dual blades, now one spear, knocked the guards down in one fell swoop.
"C'mon!" he waved over the rest of the group as he jogged into the cave. A guard stood up to follow him, but was quickly pulled back by another.
"Don't. They'll die in there just like the others."
After he was far enough into the cave that he couldn't see the entrance anymore, Childe slowed his running to a stop, dragging his hand along the cave's wall. He leaned against it and panted to catch his breath. Just a few seconds later, Kaeya caught up to him.
"I thought you said you didn't use delusions anymore," he crossed his arms.
"I don't," Childe coughed, "But I keep it on me just in case. If I have it, I might as well use it, right?"
