Epilogue

Yoongi and Jimin lived out their days on the Southside. They moved out of the Park's house soon after they were married. They tried to live on the Eastside, but neither of them was able to get through the week because of the quiet of that side of the city.

So, Yoongi was able to live out his childhood dream of getting one of the old houses on the Southside. They chose the house they did because it was in the middle of their childhood homes. It took about a year for them to fix the house, but once they did, the two men knew this was a home.

They eventually got a couple of cats, and around that time was when Jimin started to mention adoption. Yoongi was very hesitant. His hesitancy came from how shitty both their parents were, and he didn't know if he wanted to take care of another child after being forced to take care of so many when he was just a child. Jimin understood him and tried not to bring it up again, but Yoongi could see how much Jimin wanted kids. He would come home after work and talk so excitedly about his school kids, and whenever any of their families needed a babysitter, Jimin was one of the first ones to say he could. Eventually, Yoongi also started to feel the hole that was in their home as well.

It wasn't a long conversation, but whenever Yoongi brought up fostering to adopt. Jimin couldn't help the happy tears. Their first foster child was a little seven-year-old girl, and it was love at first sight. It wasn't even two months before they were filing for adoption. The next foster kid they got was a little three-year-old boy, and Yoongi fell hopelessly in love with him on the drive home. It wasn't even a month before they adopted him. The two men thought that was going to be the end of it but when they found out the little boy had a baby sister that had been surrendered by their mother, they knew they didn't want to split them up. They had fought for their families not to be split up so many times, they knew they couldn't do it to another family.

So, for the next 20 years of their life, they raised their three beautiful children. Yoongi was so good with the children, but Jimin never doubted he would be an amazing dad. They gave their children everything they weren't given. Yoongi, who had been able to get a piano in the house, taught all of the children how to play, and when the littlest girl asked, Jimin put her in ballet classes.

It wasn't all peaceful, though. The family still lived on the Southside. When their son came home with a black eye and scrapes all over his legs, Yoongi was the first in the principal's office, demanding to know what happened. The principal, of course, knew who Yoongi was and immediately gave him the number of the parents of the little boy that hurt their son. Yoongi only wanted to talk to the parents, but when he called, they had no interest in talking. But he knew who they were. Yoongi knew all the native Southsiders. So, Yoongi decided to give the parents a visit. He really was only going to talk, maybe threaten them a little, but when the dad threw a punch, Yoongi took him out. Just a couple hits, and he was down. Before he left, he looked at the mother and told her to keep her fucking son away from his.

There were other incidents too, but Yoongi was able to keep his nose clean. The time came when the couple had to sit down with their children and explain what happened with their father and why he had to go to jail. That was a hard moment, but thankfully the kids were old enough to understand.

The two men lived a happy life, though. They lived a full life filled with family and love. When the kids all left the house, their love wasn't affected, and as they grew old, they still found each other beautiful. The couple would sit and laugh about the old days and how they acted. They came to peace with their youth, eventually forgiving their parents for what they did to them, but it was still a struggle some days.

Jimin was nearing 85, and Yoongi was 87, a life expectancy much longer than the usual on the Southside when Yoongi's heart failed in his sleep. It was hard when Jimin woke up and found him, but after, he never felt alone. Yoongi was still with him. Yoongi would always be with him.

Jimin believes that Yoongi was with him two months later when his time came. Jimin was lying in bed, pictures of his love scattered around him when he closed his eyes for the final time, alone but not alone.
