chapter nine

belly had invited amelia with her and taylor to walk along the beach once they got out of the pool, she didn't want her to be alone in the house while the boys played their video games.

her walk with them only lasted about 5 minutes because she soon found their conversation boring and the english guy tanning once again more interesting, so she approached him.

amelia wasn't entirely sure if it was her friend, but who else tans on a daily?

"gavin!" she called from behind him. "millie, you must really enjoy my company." he sat up on his towel smiling up at amelia who sat beside him.

"of course, who else is there to bother?" she laughed, pinching his cheeks as one's grandmother would, earning a slap to her hands.

"so, what you been up to?" she asked the boy. ever since amelia had met him at the bonfire not too long ago the two have gotten so much closer.

"i've been great, actually. i met a boy. he's so cute and sweet and i think i really like him." amelia could see the faint blush on his face and the way his eyes lit up when he talked about him. she wondered if her eyes did that when she spoke of jeremiah.

"you two should come to nicoles party tonight!" she said excitedly. "yeah i heard about that. i'll be there, will you?"

"duh. it's my cousin slash sisters birthday today so we'll be there." gavin laughed, "cousin slash sister? how did that happen?"

"gavin, you whore. how will your boyfriend feel about you trying to get to know someone else?" amelia whipped her head to him. "and how would your boyfriend feel about you sitting here with me?" she replied in the same tone.

"he wouldn't say anything, considering he doesn't exist." she sighed. gavin shoved her shoulder, "what did i tell you? why didn't you tell him?"

"because, gavin. it's not that easy." she sighed. gavin rolled his eyes, "talk to me, babes."

"okay- it's just.. i don't know. he's so touchy- feely, like the other night we slept together." she said, realizing her mistake when gavin choked on air. "no! no! not like that." she corrected, eyes wide. "not like that at all."

"so what's the problem?"

"i don't know! like, there's times i feel like maybe he could feel the same, but then i also feel like he's just bored." she rolled her eyes. "i shouldn't even be stressing about him. i promised myself i wouldn't."

"well, you know what this sounds like to me?" he smiled, moving to sit on his legs. "sounds like you need to catch a dick."

"what? are you crazy?"

"a little, yes, but that's besides the point. here's the plan; you're gonna make out with a single and hot person in front of him. if he gets jealous, then you have your answer. if he doesn't... well.. move on." he clapped his hands together.

amelia sat in thought for a few seconds. his plan wasn't entirely too far fetched, but whats to say he'll even care?

"okay. fine."

"you'll do it? great. now get back to your cousin slash sister, i need to tan." he kicked her with his legs. "you tan an awful lot, you know."

gavin merely shrugged, "okay? who wants to look like that bitch from twilight?" he sassed. amelia tittered, "you have a point." she nodded before hearing belly yell her name. "okay, i'll be leaving now." she sat up and started walking away, but not before kicking sand on the guy.

"fuck you!" he flicked her off, dusting stand off of his trousers.

amelia giggled, skipping over to the two girls.
