amelia was laying with her head on jeremiah's chest and his arm loosely around her. they were watching a movie but eventually jeremiah grew bored of it and started braiding her hair. or, his version of a braid."i love your hair, you know?" he said, running his hand through her hair. "i'm just glad it's straightened so you can't tangle it." she chuckled.
"trust me.. i can tangle it." he smirked. amelia nearly choked on air. "jere!" she slapped his chest, him laughing at the action.
"why are you always in my room?" amelia groaned playfully. "because your beds so comfortable." he chuckled, pulling her closer.
"hmm.. fair enough."
a few more minutes of silence passed, the movie being the only noise.
"laurels gonna adopt me." amelia blurted. she didn't really know why, but she felt the need to say it.
"shut up! mel, that's amazing!" jeremiah threw this arms around her shoulders, embracing her. amelia wrapped her arms around his torso, patting his back awkwardly.
"yup. pretty great."
he pulled back, staring at her in confusion. amelia was now sitting in front of him. "do you not want her to adopt you?" amelia's eyes widened as she shook her head vigorously, "no, no. trust me i do. just, no one's ever really got this excited when i tell them something that i'm happy about." she said, looking down at her fingers.
jeremiah didn't know just how much her childhood effected her. he grabbed her hands, amelia meeting his eyes. "i'm not just someone, alright? i'm your best friend, and your boyfriend. you can always tell me things." he smiled.
amelia grinned ear to ear. jeremiah rolled his eyes playfully, "what?" the brunette girl giggled, "you said boyfriend."
her big bug-like brown eyes and the huge smile adorning her face made her look like a child opening a christmas gift that they'd wanted for so long.
"as i recall, i am your boyfriend." he whispered, leaning closer to her face. "i know. and i love hearing you say that." she whispered back, leaning closer to close the gap between them and kissing his lips softly.
"and i love when you do that." he said after they both pulled away. amelia was still grinning like a cheshire cat.
jeremiah tilted his head, studying her. amelia chuckled, tilting her head, "what?" jeremiah shook his head, "nothing, nothing- just, i never knew you had a dimple."
"neither did i."
"well, you do. right.." he pointed his finger to her right cheek. "there."
amelia nodded, "noted."

amelia woke up to laurel coming into her room.
"mel, wake up, sweetie." she gently shook her, taking a seat on the side of her bed.
"mmm, are we late?" amelia groaned out, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. "no, no. just making sure you're up." she smiled.
"uh, can we talk?" amelia asked, the conversation much more serious now. "yeah, of course, honey. is something wrong?" concern was evident in her eyes.
"no. um, it's just, uh.." she stammered, playing with her fingers. "on the fourth, when you all were outside, uh-"
"mom!" belly burst into the room. "oh.. sorry if i interrupted, uh, susannah needs you downstairs." she said to her mother, turning on her heel and leaving.
