"If I'm gonna be honest, Bekah, school kinda seems boring."
Keira and Rebekah were walking up to Mystic Falls High School together. Both girls had bags slung over their shoulders, and both ignored the random boys catcalling them.
"You separated from Elijah, Elijah of all people, so you could have a life here. And as sad as it is, normal people go to school," said Rebekah.
"I separated from Elijah cuz I've spent the last ninety or so years stuck at his side because him and our brother just had to pull their sisters apart," Keira replied bitterly.
"You don't have to call him our brother, he has a name," Rebekah said.
"He had a name."
"We can't dwell on it forever. The best we can do is mourn for a while while living our lives and getting use to him not being in them. Get up, eat, school, go home, eat, sleep repeat, until one day it isn't as hard anymore. And we stick together, always and forever, remember?"
The bell rang. "What the bloody hell is that?" Keira exclaimed.
"The school bell. You've never gone to school before?"
"Well, I was kind of busy watching Elijah rip hearts out, try to find that other doppelganger Katerina, and be an annoying older brother the past few years school has existed."
"Oh please, you should have seen Nik doing all those things. It was so..." Rebekah trailed off, realizing she had brought up the subject of her now deceased brother.
Keira smiled sadly. "I still can't believe he's really gone."
Rebekah sighed and put a hand over her younger sister's shoulder. "Nik is gone, Keira. You saw it happen."
"His sireline survived. Don't you want to know how that happened? Even if one of us was the one who sired Mary Porter and we just forgot about it or something, we still would have known all of his other sires to die out. And we definitely would have heard from New Orleans by now if that had happened."
"Maybe it's because he's technically not an Original vampire. He was a Hybrid, maybe that affected his sire link?"
"Tyler Lockwood died. I haven't seen the hybrids in ages. So they've got to be gone, or all of Alaric's friends would be dead by now since their friend killed the hybrids' master."
The bell rang again. "We'll talk about this later. Or you can text me during class, no one really cares at this point," said Rebekah. "And be careful, one of your classmates is a vampire hunter... ish."
Keira walked into her first period Science class.
"We, apparently have a new student today!" said Mrs. Belle, the science teacher, in fake enthusiasm. "This is... Kelly Mitchellson."
Keira glared at her. "Keira Mikaelson."
"Kenna Miller?" said the teacher. Keira approached her.
"Don't bother," said one of the students. "She always does that, it's pointless to try and get her to get your name right."
Keira compelled her. "Keira Mikaelson," she said.
"Keira.. Mikaelson," said the teacher. One of the boys in the back of the class sat up straighter and stared. Keira noticed and deduced he was the sort-of-vampire-hunter Rebekah had said. She smiled at the teacher, before walking to the seat next to him.
"Jeremy Gilbert," she said. "I was wondering who my sister was talking about."
"You're a Mikaelson?" he replied.
