'DEAR Y/N...if you are reading this, I'm dead.'

Y/N held on to Eleven as tight as she could. And she didn't plan on letting go either. "I can't believe you're speaking full sentences," Y/N stated excitedly as she reluctantly broke away. The seven party members were finally reunited, celebrating their victory over Vecna. They were at an ice cream parlor they frequently visited as a group. By the time Y/N had finished her greetings with El and Will, the rest had already sat down with their desired ice cream flavors.

"I wish our spring break went differently." Dustin sighed as Y/N finally sat down. She instinctively grabbed Max's hand but was hurt by the speed with which Max let go. This was a normal activity for the two, so Y/N frowned at the uncomfortableness on Max's face. She wanted to say something but kept quiet as she didn't want to interrupt the sweet vibe.

"Don't get me wrong, seeing you guys again under this circumstance isn't one I'd choose. But I feel like this is normal for us." Will joked, playing with his plastic spoon."

"Here's too strange, I guess." Lucas grinned, holding up his cone. The others held up their respective ice cream containers and pushed them together in the center. Y/N sat awkwardly as she was partly excluded from the toast. As they lowered their hands, they fell into a comfortable silence (joined by El and Mike's whispers). Y/N no longer felt like eating her chosen flavor, so she played with it until it melted. She didn't know what, but she felt amiss. Like she wasn't supposed to be there.

"Not to bring up old news." Mike paused to let out an awkward laugh, "But I just wanted to know why he chose Max."

"Dude." Y/N scoffed, glaring at Mike.

"No it's okay N/N, I don't mind sharing." Max shrugged putting down her spoon. "I guess it started with her."

"What?" Y/N asked, unbelievably shocked at the answer. "Me?"

"I mean it basically started when N/N here left. I know she chose to leave me when I needed her." Max shrugged, catching the attention of everyone at the table.

"That's not tr-."

"Y/N? You willingly left us?" Lucas stared in disbelief, cutting off Y/N.
