To Unite a Family

"I'M basically under arrest!" Y/N throws herself on the chair next to Victor, she slouches to see Flo from afar clicking on the keyboard at the front of the desk. Y/N followed Victor in the empty offices of the Hawkins Police Department for their day of an internship during the afternoon. According to Hopper's grounding rules, Y/N was only allowed to be out for school, the department and any emergencies for necessities, all of which did not apply to Y/N. Flo was well aware of these rules Hopper speaks of, enforcing them around her. Hopper was away with Powell to do file investigations at the town library. Both Victor and Y/N weren't informed on any insights anymore, the problem perhaps became bigger than what it was. "I need to find Will somehow. The kids aren't going to find their friend by themselves, they obviously need backup."

"Well there's people who are already searching for him," He dryly says, putting away the last of the papers in the cabinet.

"Are you serious?" Y/N stands, speeding towards a room with equipment such as flashlights and other utilities, Victor spins aimlessly in his chair, "I'm going to look for him, I don't care about Hopper's rules right now."

"You're just going to end up in worse shit," The boy shrugs, watching his friend pack her backpack with the items.

Y/N's eyes darted to his, why did he switch up all of a sudden? It seemed so odd for him to become to cautious of the situation, usually, he would help her in this case. "Okay there's something up with you, talk."

"There's nothing wrong," He says, fidgeting around with his pens, "It's just that you always become reckless and too determined when it comes to helping others but it could lead into you getting hurt, or worse, dead."

In the mood of seriousness, Y/N smiled and shook her head in disbelief. Did he lose faith in her after the countless times she's tried to help in the littlest situations? "I'm just going to check the woods, I'll probably meet the kids somehow and we'll take it from there."

"You're just like your dad."

"I've been told that countless times," She moves her head to look at Victor, acknowledging the resemblance between her and her father. Although the Hoppers were two strangely different people in their ways, they shared so much within each other. Sure, Y/N is awfully indistinguishable to her mother, as much as she doesn't like it, but she inherited the determination, cynicism, and compassion from her father, one that everybody in Hawkins knew about.

She laughs and ties her shoes, getting prepared for her plan she thought of for quite some time now, "My dad just likes to help people, so do I. Now I'll just go out the door and go by Mirkwood, easy peasy."

Victor crosses his arms in front of her and rolls his eyes, "You're never going to stop are you?"

"Yep," Y/N wearily smiles, thinking about her friend, a friend she truly was in desperate need to find. As hours passed, so did the clock of Will's life being at stake did as well, "Not until I bring him home safely with his family again."

"Why?"

"Because no one did for me."

No one ever reunited the Hopper family. As the sound of the failed machines came to a stop, indicating a heart coming to a halt, a lifeless corpse laid in the bed, a corpse that belonged to a little girl, a sister, a daughter. That day, one in which will never be forgotten, was the day a family died. No one brought their girl back into safety, they did all they could but were unsuccessful. The pain was an emptiness, a piece being ripped apart from it. A pain that Y/N wishes no one feels, maybe this time she could prevent it.
