Gwendolyn, preferably Gwen, was walking to school. She was looking at her phone until she saw her best friend, Grace, walking from her house. They have been friends since fourth grade and always have been partners for projects. They had four classes together, but it was in the afternoon. They had so much to talk about. But it would have to wait till fifth period.

Before fifth period started, Grace walked up to me and asked what career do you want. I replied with, "I would want to be an author". Ever since I began to read books like there was no tomorrow, I wanted to be an author or editor. Grace has wanted to be a fashion critic since the day I met her. She has never told me that she wanted to be something else. We kept interrupting each other while we were walking to fitness.

During fitness, we had many staring contests with each other before we were rudely interrupted by one of the popular girls in our class. As usual we ignored her. She finally got the message and left. We started to laugh because it was the first time that it had worked. It soon ceased when we had to go separate into teams for capture the flag. I was pretty sure that we would continue with our laughing.

We were walking back to our houses and I asked her, "Do you want to write short stories with me?" I have been thinking about this for years hoping that she would take it seriously. She had a big smile and was practically jumping up and down and she said, "Seruously! Of course I would!" We began to talk about book genres that we would do.

Before I went to bed I must have looked pretty happy because my parents asked me what was making me so happy and my sister just walked away when she saw my smile. That night I had so many ideas racing through my head that I couldn't sleep. But I soon remembered what happened during fitness and I was trying so hard to not laugh. Tomorrow was going to be great.

Author's note: This is my first story and I would really like it if there was no negative criticism. I would like criticism that would help my writing in this story or my future stories.
